  1. I have a bunch of the old bottles too,i take them and wrap them in paper towel and fill a quart sized can pack them in snug and i put them on my paint shaker,it really helps to mix them up good.Have had great luck bringing them back this way,i worked in a bodyshop so i had access to the paint shaker.Just keep an eye on it so they dont rattle around, repack them if they do.Had the top of one come loose one time, they all had blue paint on them that time. harvey
  2. Dont forget the Hayes trucks,a canadian manufacturer that used the Mack cabover cabs on their trucks, around the early 70's then they used the peterbilt cab in their final years. Also the cab from the ford C-600 was used on some Mack cabovers back in the sixties?.There was a lot of outsourcing back in the day. harvey
  3. The twin turbo setup is a newer design, back in the day they would have only 1 turbo or even a supercharger. Some didnt even have a turbo, the motor in the white freightliner cabover and the autocar dump truck have non turbo cummins motors. The motors in the AMT kenworth kits is a good version of what a lot of rigs had back in the day,a cummins 335 or 350 engine. harvey
  4. Everything greg said is true,i made the petty superbird years ago,it was my first jo-han i ever had.I was impressed with them, always liked them since too.I only wish they had made Semis,i am more into them then cars,im sure they would have made some obscure stuff.Get them you will not be dissapointed.
  5. I think there used to be one in the 49 ford kit from AMT,the convertible car ,i had one and i used it on a Mack truck, they used to have one for the Maxidyne motors? in some of the 70"s R600 models. harvey
  6. That looks like some of the decorator pieces you would see at bed bath and beyond type of stores?Ive seen some VW buses that look like they were made by the same people.Does it say what scale it is supposed to be,the VW buses looked like 1/8 scale, lots of burnt welds and rust-patina on them too, actually looked pretty cool for a ornament, here in Canada Home-Hardware used to have them. harvey
  7. That Dodge truck looks like it was a school bus in a former life, the roof looks to be cut off at the top of the windsheild? harvey
  8. I always thought the AMT car hauler trailer would be a neat Rat Fink hauler,I would use the Ford C-800 for the truck and load the trailer with some of the Fink cars.Would look pretty neat all painted in the lime green and purple. That way you could justify the chrome spoke wheels that comes in the kit,im sure Big Daddy would of used them on his truck?.. Harvey
  9. Not sure if this is whats up,but a lot of folks are on holidays this time of year?.Adds a lot of time to some simple tasks.Took me 2 weeks to get a key programmed, the first guy who had to cut the blank was out, when he came back to work, the fellow who was to program it was gone?. Hang in there im sure they will eventually show up.😀
  10. I like it too,the blue engine is correct for this type of ford, back in the day most all the truck companies had their factory colors on the motors.Kenworth was white IH was red and ford was blue,Macks were gold.not sure about any others.Cool truck ,they were so ugly they were good looking😁. harvey
  11. They should be the same,as long as they both have the push on wheels?,another thing you could try is ,use the metal axes and wheels from a AMT kit,put a small hole in the backing plate and run the metal axle through it,the same way an Amt kit is.You would have to cut off the "pointy" stub on the rear end first. I have done it before,it looks as good as any wheel on there. harvey
  12. I said it was the astro,no mention of the titan in my post?It was the first release of the astro that has the rear installed grille,I have a newer issue that has the outside mounted grille, the same as a titan.
  13. That orange looks like a schneider truck?,looks very nice so far. harvey
  14. A good spot to find models is at a car swap meet, lots of them there, but you have to get there on the first day as lots of vendors buy from each other to resell at their table. Also with the big surge in new models being made there should be more turning up at the goodwill?. harvey
  15. I think some of the early issues of the astro had a flush mount grille, the later ones have a grille that sticks out from the body?.Myself i like the flush mount one better, not sure if the titan ever came that way?The flush mount grille installs from the rear side and the other goes in the front side. The last years of the astro had a grille that was very similar to the general truck,it was a lot larger, wasnt bad looking at all. harvey
  16. I was there too,i must have been walking around just behind you,i seen all the cars you took pics of.😁. First time there, was amazed at how big the car show is,there were a lot of guys going with models, lot of sellers there had them, some reasonably priced others not?. harvey
  17. That car is a 30-31 ford model A, not a 32.they look similar but not the same body. harvey
  18. most of the early ones were red, around 1970 or so they went yo the the corporate blue color. At least thats how i remember them. harvey
  19. I had one of those back in the eighties when they first came out,the decals were some sort of press transfer?I was never able to make them work,i was real dissapointed in them, they would not "release" from the hard plastic sheet. It was from the original release of the kit. harvey
  20. Are they the ones that look the most realistic,i remember back in the day when they first came out, they started on the MPC mack kits and the gravel trailer.Later when ERTL bought MPC they started to come in the IH truck kits.Anyone remember the tires that came on the original issues of the transtar kits, the hard plastic 2 piece tires, thay were horrible looking, wasnt long until i used the MPC tires on them, made a world of difference. harvey
  21. If you do make them, can you also make something for the cab hinges,to make it easier to have the cab tilt. That would be a great feature, something that could "hook" onto the end of the rails?. How long does it take for the printer to actually make a cab,id love to see a video of one being made. harvey
  22. I have one i bought at a hobby lobby, havent opened it yet,i didnt realize it was molded in black,I absolutely despise any "colored" plastic.I propably would not have bought it if i knew that then. The stuff is so hard to change the color on,i wasnt planning to make it the papa truck anyway. harvey
  23. is elsinore beer ,the beer doug and bob mckenzie were drinking? where they went to get a free box of beer because it had a mouse in it?, harvey
  24. I have a couple of the AMT sedans,im not impressed with the body details,i do have a real 33 sedan,i was dissapointed in it when i opened the box, roof is a disaster,i chopped one of them, but it has never been completed. The big 1/16 kit looks better, didnt even know they made one until a month ago, seen one on Ebay, was going cheap until the last few minutes, sold for 120.00 i think,im to frugal for that. harvey
  25. Anyone else ever try and paint over the testors Silver or Gold? it seemed like it never dried, when you tried to brush a color over the top it all mushed together😒 also i tried to paint a wide whitewall on some tires with the testors white,it would never dry either,i think i still have some scrap tires from 40 years ago that are still tacky. At my local hobby shop all they had were testors,it was a Kmart,it had a decent supply of models then. harvey
