As I mentioned in my previous question, I inhale vigorously at most computer things but I know enough to be able to make a ton of memes that I use in another forum I'm on.  I can usually find the pictures I want on Google images, after which I save them to my picture file.  This morning I had a great idea for a response, but every picture of the object I tried to save (8! - all from different sources) ended up going to a separate pic file (that I didn't create).  When I'd search for  the saved name, it would come up, but with "kfif" at the end. The system that car board uses accepts a variety of picture types, but not that one.

What am I running  into?

it means the file has been compressed. I think you should be able to set it to save as a jpeg when the save screen pops up. does it do the same if you open the pic on its own site instead of google images and then save the pic?

You can probably just rename the file with the correct .jpg extension and you'll be good. When I take pictures on my phone and send them to my PC I always have to add the ext to the file.

Assuming kfif was a typo, here is an explanation: https://fileinfo.com/extension/jfif

Google (or DuckDuckGo) search is your friend. ;)

Nice catch!  As king of the spelling Nawtsees it's rare for me to make a typo, but when I do it's when I get on the computer without putting my contacts in first.  At least I know better than to try and drive without them.
