How might I run a search for these type of wheels? They are for a '64 Mercury Marauder - AMT 1:25 scale. Do we have favorite vendors for this type of product? Ebay, etc. can be such a rabbit hole. I particularly like the protruding lugs and valve stem. Oh, and tires too.

Thanks,

Cal

Then what size to choose? There are multiple options. I could not get a snapshot. These are close to what I want but not quite. Sorry my 1:1 car knowledge is lacking.image.png.551f8d053dc99d8078228c37fe8567a7.png

PPP sells the wheels and tires you need, although their tires are either Firestone or Goodyear. As far as the extended studs, you will have to do those yourself using some Plastruct/Evergreen styrene rod. The valve stem is simply a piece of small gauge wire inserted into a drilled hole and painted black. The PPP (Plastic Performance Products) line of product is available on several different sites.  Here is one source Plastic Performance Parts.

Model Round up, sells the PPP Wheels. I've used a couple sets of them, and been very pleased with them.

PPP rims are all sized correctly for your Merc. So, no worries there.

The PPP wheels and tires are some of the best aftermarket parts in the business.

And if you read the package labels, they note what era and kind of racing (asphalt, dirt, etc.) each set is appropriate for, so you can get it right.

And just FYI: The resin wheel-tire-brake sets you show above are not at all correct for what you want to build, not even close.

The wheels you want are steel wheels, sometimes factory production steel wheels strengthened and widened for racing.

EDIT: Here's your tires. You can sand the GoodYear off and apply Hoosier decals if you like.

Here's your wheels:

Bill suggested items from Mike's Decals. He is definitely one of the best vendors you can deal with, especially for various oval track racing items. Been buying from him for years.

Best I remember. the 60s era stock cars just used a widened stock steel wheel

The Johan Petty Superbird and/or 64 Plymouth has some good ones in it

maybe take a look at the rims in the Lindberg Petty Plymouth

I might have some if you need just the wheels

Some of the original stock car steel wheels were actually made from Ford pickup truck pieces. The centers were doubled up and welded into wider hoops.
