lordairgtar Posted February 8 Posted February 8 (edited) I have a test shot of a round window Taurus NASCAR racer. Accurate Miniatures was thinking about releasing this but never did. Could someone like Salvino's JR acquire the tooling for this model and add it to their line up? It would be a good addition to their inventory in my opinion. I'm not building it because decals would be difficult to locate for it. Moldings look very nice to my eye. Very detailed. Not selling this. I'm giving it to a friend who builds racing cars. Mark Posted February 8 Posted February 8 Accurate had their kits molded in Korea, if anyone has that one it might be Academy which has the Corvette Grand Sport tooling. Someone who had a connection to Accurate back in the day has stated that the Taurus likely no longer exists. How well it would have sold is an unknown. Monogram also had a Taurus kit. It would probably have come down to which company licensed the more popular cars running back then.
Robberbaron Posted February 9 Posted February 9 (edited) I believe Dave Van was the member who had the connection with Accurate. I seem to recall him stating the same thing regarding the stillborn Taurus. If you do a forum search, you should be able to dig up the thread where he discussed it. I seem to recall that he went into quite a bit of detail regarding the Accurate Miniatures saga. Edited February 11 by Robberbaron Fat fingers on a touchscreen
Dave Van Posted February 9 Posted February 9 There is a detailed post about the AM Taurus kit. Long story short the kit was designed by Bob Johnson who did the majority of Monogram NASCAR kits. The kit was never produced and sold in any numbers. My brother in law worked at AM, as did I part time. When they closed I was given a large tub of Taurus kits. IMHO only I doubt the tooling is still around. The tooling was shopped to a number of companies and there was no interest. https://public.fotki.com/DaveVan51/accurate-miniatures/
