Anyone know for sure engine color on this particular car.

Instructions says Chrysler red( orange )

A 1968 440 or 383  GTS Darts engine would be turquoise in color

These cars ran 426 Hemi's, and they are Race Hemi Orange. A different shade than the 340 or 440 or Street Hemi orange.

Sorry about that. I got the wrong car. Anyways, from what I was able to find out it was blue. I can't find a single pic to prove it though. I did find a die cast car and it is blue and I'm sure they strive for some accuracy on that model cause it was a limited edition run of only 400. Sorry, but that's all I could come up with. My guess it is factory blue turquoise.

Looking good so far. Can't wait to see it finished.

Thanks,

My ultimate goal is be able to recreate this photo in 1.25th scale

I have the Hemi dart, and the Charger done already

Once this dart is finished, I'll move on to the 68 Coronet RT

Still trying to determine the cars engine color.

But....got all the decals on yesterday.

Cleared it today.

So...I will soon be at the point to just leave it turquoise and move on.

I started one of these some 20, 22 years ago . I'd painted its engine Chrysler Engine Turquoise - dunno if it's correct, but I like it.

I'm sure that "Dandy Dick" at least blueprinted the engine and swapped cams and made other class-rules modifications. Not sure if he repainted the engine (probably unnecessary).

I'll enquire to his son , Robert, and see if he remembers.

I was about to point out that the engine in the Coronet is orange and that's a 440... seems possible he painted all his engines Hemi orange.

I haven't received a reply from Robert Landy regarding his dad's '68 SS/EA Dart's engine colour.

Im in a FB group where several of the Landy family are involved. One replied saying him and Mike Landy built the car , he asked what I wanted to know

. Then never heard back with answers to my questions

Ive moved on and Turquoise its going to be
