Phildaupho Posted April 5 Author Posted April 5 #29 - This roadster uses the cut down body and shortened fenders from an AMT ’34 Ford Cab Pickup mated to the cowl of a Revell ’32 Ford Roadster. The grill shell was modified to look more like the commercial version. Under the hood is rodded flathead. By coincidence this model looked so much like the car a hot rodder was building that he asked me to sell it to him which I did hoping to get a ride in the real car which so far has not happened. 2
Phildaupho Posted April 9 Author Posted April 9 #30 - This is a model of one of the cars that was on the 2019 Deuce Days poster and apparel. It is owned by race car driver Tom Gloy and was built to go and handle like a race car. The body was channelled and the torsion bar suspension was scratch-built. The interior was highly modified to resemble that in the actual car. Under the hood is a stack injected small block Ford. I managed to find a Humbrol blue the came close to matching the colour of the real car. Tom Gloy liked the model so much he made me an offer I could not refuse. I was sad to see it go but it went to a worthy home. 1
Phildaupho Posted April 9 Author Posted April 9 #31 - This is model of the other car that was on the 2019 Deuce Days poster. I did not have a lot of photos for reference but got it close enough that the owner of the real car wanted to buy the model without hesitation. The most challenging aspect of the build was the windshield which incorporates sections from three different frames. The paint is Colors by Boyd Candy Grape. 2

The radiator opening was made starting from an upside-down Deuce grill shell. Most everything else is from a Monogram 427 Cobra. The frame did require lengthening. Incredibly nice cars, this one is my favorite. Hot Rods that border on sports car always touch me a little extra. 1
Rattlecan Dan Posted April 9 Posted April 9 Wow! Pretty much speechless to all the skill and creativity in all these beautiful builds. Great show! 1
Phildaupho Posted April 18 Author Posted April 18 #32 - Built in the 1960’s Show & Go style with suspension is from the AMT Ala Kart. It has a 409 engine. The interior is tuck and roll from Replicas & Miniatures. Those are white wall drag slicks at the rear. The Candy Apple Red is from House of Color. 1
Phildaupho Posted April 18 Author Posted April 18 #33 - This is a tribute to one of the most favourite Hi-Boy Roadsters of all time - built and owned by Tom McMullen the publisher of Street Rodder magazine. I was able to duplicate most the features of this hot rod except for the flames. 1
echo Posted April 18 Posted April 18 Nice accomplishment, all beautifully replicated, hope you keep going, it will be fun to see what you do next. 1
Phildaupho Posted April 26 Author Posted April 26 #34 - This Deuce represents an emerging style of hot rods coming from pro-builders that I call Retro-Modern. This 5-W is not chopped and has absolutely no chrome. It features lots of louvers on the hood and trunk. The wheels are large diameter with low profile rubber from the AMT Phantom Vickie. The paint is Tamiya Deck Tan with Satin Clear. 1
Phildaupho Posted April 26 Author Posted April 26 #35 - This is a tribute to one of my favourite local Deuce. I was lucky enough to be there when it was first fired up. The owner built it as he wished he could have as a young hot rodder. He later sold it but eventually realised it was his perfect hot rod and was able to buy it back. It has a small block Chevy engine and a transverse rear spring suspension. The paint is Tamiya Light Blue. 1
Phildaupho Posted yesterday at 02:32 PM Author Posted yesterday at 02:32 PM #36 - This is a tribute to Deuce I have really liked since the first time I saw it. The colour is Tamiya Light Metallic Blue. The wheels and tires are from the AMT Ala Kart and the rear suspension has parallel leaf springs. The engine is a small block Ford with a 4-speed transmission. 1
Phildaupho Posted yesterday at 02:35 PM Author Posted yesterday at 02:35 PM This a tribute to Pete Chapouris’s after market component quick-build Hi-Boy Roadster known as Limefire. The model is based on the most recently released Revell Deuce Roadster but using the Rat Roaster body. The Chev engine has a B&M Blower and transmission. Out back is a quick-change rear end. The paint is Tamiya Candy Lime Green and the flames were painted using Lazy Modeller masks.
