Hello Tim. Don't recall ever posting pics of this build of mine anywhere. I started it many many years ago after reading an informative series of articles in the '95 Plastic Fanatic magazine #'s 44-49 by Dan Harrison entitled  "A Tale of Two Roadsters" in which he builds two projects based on AMT's popular '29 Model A kit...one a highboy drag car based on Hugh Tucker's formidable AA/ SR '28 Chevy...the other a channeled hot rod based on Dave Whitehead's show rod " The Jewel "...both featured in early 60's editions of Hot Rod magazine. It was a multi part build series that ended at Part 5 before the builds were completed ( perhaps due to a falling out between the writer and the publisher ) ...but being a recent returnee to the hobby back then I found the series immensely informative as far as kit bashing parts. Looking through my pages...the rear end treatment you mention is illustrated in Pts 1 & 2 of the series.

That series by Dan Harrison "Tale of Two Roadsters" in Plastic Fanatic (#42 #44 #45 #47 #49 1994 - 1995) was one of the best "how to builds" for those who like that era of Hot Rodding.

Dan grew up during the glory days of early hot rodding and drag racing and using the inspiration he found in that August 1963 Hot Rod magazine article on the Hugh Tucker '29  dragster/roadster "race car" and Dave Whiteheads '29 The Jewel" "hot rod",   he provided information on how to do accurate scale modeling of the engines, speed equipment, chassis detailing and more importantly - sourcing those components from popular kits, just as Tim Boyd has done in his many build articles.

Of course, there are many more options now than when Dan wrote the original article back in 1994...he had to do a lot of modifying of an early kit flathead back then to get it right.

Too bad the series ended before the projects were finished.

Here's what I got using Replicas and Miniatures stuff : various flathead engine blocks, water pumps, heads inc. Ardun conversion, crab style distributor, carb combinations, Fenton and megaphone exhausts.....

Steve and Jim....very cool stuff....don't recall seeing those articles as my collection of Plastic Fanatic is far from complete...looks like I missed a real highlight.  Meanwhile, everything looks very sharp.  Thanks for answering my questions...TIM
