Another WIP.

I'm building two of these. One will be my take on my perfect road car, the other will be a race car using Scale Production's transkit. Both will be Ferrari Tour de France Blu.

Currently struggling to get the wheel arch extensions blended in to my satisfaction on the race car. I need to increase the thickness of the 'filler' I am using by reprofiling the arch extension (a little). At one point I was ready to throw this body in the bin. I may still buy another kit and another set of wheel arch extensions as I have made a few errors on this body that I need to see if I can blend out.

Got a few detail parts to incorporate.

Nice project.  That Alfa was a splendid little car back in its day. Lovely body style. Just right with no fussy details.

Got to drive one when current all those years ago. Quite an experience!

Very interesting projects!

Are the various photo etch sets significantly different from each other?

As this is one of my all-time favorite cars, I will definitely follow this WIP (I have 5 in my stash, and also the Scale Production transkit)

There's actually quite a lot of hours represented in these two images, but in reality very little to show for it (except progress!).

I'm not suddenly building three kits though.

I wasn't happy with the race car body with the Scale Production wheel arches. I'm not giving up on it but wasn't happy, so I ordered another Tamiya kit. I was also going to order another set of Scale Production arches but just as I was contemplating what to do Ukrainian Scale Cars Production launched their own flared wheel arches. My set of these arrived today and I think I'm going to be much happier with these, though I have filed the rivet nodules off.

Both engine bays have a lot of aftermarket parts but I'm struck by how unrealistic the kit exhaust manifold is, so I'm going to attempt to build my own, which of course sends me down another rabbit hole....

Everything you have done is a lot work and it shows. Do those red springs in the top right part of the tray come with that kit?

Thanks!

No those parts are from my 1/12 Lancia Stratos build.

A word of caution for the final assembly:

The fit between the body and wheelhouses is VERY tight on these models. To avoid cracking/chipping the paint along the rocker panels and wheel arches during installation of the body on the platform, you can slip a sheet of wax paper or backing paper from e.g. a shipping label between the body and platform to protect the painted surfaces.

Great looking detailing and the one painted body. This 1:1 car is one I would buy if I had the ware with all to do so.

That shiny red body is just out of the box. It's about to have the USCP arches fitted...
