stitchdup Posted March 19 Posted March 19 I was going to build my monogram gnx as a regal but it turns out the roof is slightly pushed to one side. I tried the usual hot water fix but i had to stop as its old black plastic and brittle and made some scary noises. Is there something else i can try before i give up and t top it? I've got a fresh kit coming but I'd like to save this one if i can. Its my own fault for storing the kit on its side
JollySipper Posted March 19 Posted March 19 How warped is it, Les man? Sometimes when you install the windows, it straightens a lot of that out.........

Sometimes when you install the windows, it straightens a lot of that out......... the roof is 5mm to the left at the front pillars. its been sat on its side for a couple of years so the rear pillar has a slight twist to it as well which is where i'm trying to get squared up. if it was an amt kit the hot water would have fixed it but monogram plastic doesn'e seem to age very well
Bill Anderson Posted March 20 Posted March 20 I'm surprised sitting on its side for even that long of time would warp it so much. I know (from experience) heat will do it, but maybe it was like that to begin with (factory goof).
Fat Brian Posted March 20 Posted March 20 If something is wrong with a common kit like this I will usually just get another one. I'd rather spend my time building than trying to fix something that won't be an issue with a different kit. That being said, there is an issue with the divers side quarter window on these kits that need some attention.
stitchdup Posted April 5 Author Posted April 5 Well I set this aside and ordered another, but I inadvertantly left it in a window that gets sun most of the day and it straightened out by itself. Not sure if this normally happens or if it just did it cos i ordered another, lol 2
bobss396 Posted April 5 Posted April 5 I've had them where it was easier to cut the A pillar loose, deal with it and re-attach it.
