Valvefloat Posted April 15 Posted April 15 Just cracked the box and slung lil paint. Exterior will be Metallic Blue with blue/black interior. Chrome will stay on the wheels. 3
Valvefloat Posted April 16 Author Posted April 16 Here are the interior pieces in a custom mixed blue. I used the older Corvettes for inspiration. What do you think? 2

Valvefloat Posted April 21 Author Posted April 21 Help..Sanded 600-3000 Primed with Krylon sandable white primer. Sanded 2000, washed with Dawn, dry and clean. Temp. is 14 degrees humidity is little high.
carl63_99 Posted April 21 Posted April 21 It looks like the color coat was too thick. But also, why are you using dish soap between primer and color? I'm not sure that's a good idea. I only use water to clean after sanding primer. And it needs to dry overnight after washing.
Valvefloat Posted April 21 Author Posted April 21 Well I've decided not to use primer, I painted spoons and old kit parts no primer, flawless. Wash dry spray done.

johnyrotten Posted April 21 Posted April 21 Ouch man. There's a multi page thread right in questions and answers on stripping paint, most lean towards the "purple pond"( purple power I believe). Brake fluid comes up quite often,as well. I've got one kit that was started, painted with testors enamel, so I researched that thread. Haven't stripped it yet, so I'm just pointing you towards information. Good luck, this build was looking fantastic.
Valvefloat Posted Thursday at 07:10 PM Author Posted Thursday at 07:10 PM Here's the body after a 3 day bath in 99% isopropyl alcohol. It spreads and smears the paint , especially on nitrile gloves. Let it sit for weeks then try acrylic craft paint.
