KWT Posted Sunday at 02:51 PM Posted Sunday at 02:51 PM I've decided to try to knock out a fairly easy one as I attempt to get back in the swing of things I built a Cuda probably 30 years ago now. It was one molded in purple, so I pretty much didn't have to do anything at the time. I got this one a couple years ago to build a better version as I do from time to time, but I've decided to go a different direction. I'm going to try to customize it a tad, but nothing crazy. I really want this to be a fairly easy and quick build... but we all know how that goes, so we'll see... Let's get this started shall we...
KWT Posted Sunday at 02:53 PM Author Posted Sunday at 02:53 PM (edited) So this morning, we're off to the races. I've decided to try my hand at dropping if a little bit. I wasn't sure just exactly how to go about this. I dug around in my pile of plastic and found a rod and had a bit of a "hmm" moment. So I cut of the end of the original spindles. And then, drilled out holes for the new spindle location. Then I drilled out the wheels to accept the rod I found. Then glued a couple pieces of the rod inside. Gonna let the glue set up and think about the rear suspension a minute. We shall return... Edited Sunday at 02:55 PM by KWT 2
6_4_4 Posted Sunday at 03:34 PM Posted Sunday at 03:34 PM Looks like you’re off to a good start! What are you thinking in terms of colour? 1

KWT Posted Monday at 12:02 AM Author Posted Monday at 12:02 AM So I decided I'd cut a notch halfway through the frame rails on both sides of the front to help give added support to the new "spindles". After this and making sure the front "spindles" fit I moved on to the back. I decided to glue the suspension in as designed. From there I cut off the leaf springs from their mounts and cut a small section from the floor plan on both sides. After these steps, I've glued the leaf springs back on at a lower point on the mounts. It's crude for sure, and I still have to clean it up and see what I can do with it, but a quick mockup shows even though I have to make a couple adjustments it's about right where I meant for it to be. 4
KWT Posted Monday at 12:04 AM Author Posted Monday at 12:04 AM (edited) This is after thinning out the wheel wells... I not sure if it shows as well in the photo as it does sitting here in front of me, but I'm pretty sure I've got it where it needs to be. Edited Monday at 12:04 AM by KWT 2
