michelle Posted May 1 Posted May 1 i know the initial release of the kit was 2013 but neither it or the newer reissue has a year on it i was thinking about getting one to make daisy duke's white 2004 jeep rubicon from the 2005 dukes of hazzard movie
RubiconLJ Posted May 1 Posted May 1 The TJ was built from 1997-2006. The Rubicon variant was made from 2003-2006. The green box release is a rebox of the Tomb Raider with the modified roll cage, stinger, Bushwacker fender flares, etc. The yellow boxing is much closer to stock, I filled the snorkel mounting holes and sanded off the diamond plate rear corner armor on mine to make it fully stock. There is also a snap version that has full doors and a hard top, but I'm not sure if the body fits the chassis of these.
NOBLNG Posted May 1 Posted May 1 (edited) You would be better off with the yellow box version. It has the correct wheels and tires. The green version has 6 lug rims which are incorrect for TJs. The snap version body is pretty much identical in dimensions and may well have com from the same master? You could quite easily modify the snapper body to use or just cut out the doors to use. My stalled build thread: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/167432-jeep-tj/#comment-2551747 FYI…the green bodied snap kit pictured below has the same wheels and tires as the green box art kit above but the rims ARE 5 lug.🙂 Edited May 15 by NOBLNG
