Last week a friend who does basement/attic cleanouts for a living called me and asked me if i wanted any model paints.  So I said yes , expecting a small amount of paints. Instead i was confronted with about 500 bottles and cans of Testors , Tamiya and other paints. Model ,aster acrylic , enamel , etc. He was going to dump it all at the hazardous waste disposal the next day, so i took them, naturally. The bad news is the guy was an aircraft modeler, maybe armor too , so no automotive colors , no Colors by Boyd , nothing like that. Lots of grays tans and german uniform colors. All full bottles nothing dried out all good paints. Lots of model master spray cans too.. same color palette.

So I sent an email to the local IPMS chapter , but got no response. I'm looking for ideas on how to get this stuff into the hands of modelers somewhere. I do not have time or patience to ebay this stuff. Any suggestions? basically its free to a good home , but there's too much to ship so it would need to be some one fairly local(Connecticut).

Very cool!

I don't wish to be too forward here, but I have long been searching for a full bottle or two of Testors dark green #1123 for the restoration of an old build. This colour hasn't been produced in over 20 years. I'd gladly trade a kit for some of this paint. If you think you can help, send me a PM and we'll work something out.

Paint just has to ship ground. So no fast shipping.

Give the local car model club a shout if you have one. VFW or American Legion may have military modelers as members.

Post your unwanted paints in the trade section.

I'm always looking for paint.

And it just so happens that I have stuff for trade.

I tossed a bunch of Model Master enamels that settled/separated & no amount of agitation would bring them back. If you have any Floquil, that stuff is like gold if you have right colors. I still have a few bottles I bought as a kid 30+ years ago that are good.
