Mpc 1966/67 charger chassis swap

I picked this up as a glue bomb.Has anyone here tried swapping the chassis on this kit. I'm thinking the Revell coronet MIGHT work, haven't tried anything yet. Still stripping the paint. Any suggestions,  and I know the Revell kit is the nicer one, for 4 dollars I'm not gonna complain. Thanks

I don't have one available. I've only come across the Revell kit one time, I should have snatched it up. I know the 66 was basically a coronet "fastback", so in my mind the chassis should be close.

Fuel tank/spare tire area is different between Charger and Coronet.  The MPC Charger kit underbody was originally used in their '65 Coronet, they made other minor alterations for the Charger but that area was the most obvious change.

Another good option would be the chassis in the Round2 70 Coronet (stock version).

The 70 Coronet kit uses a modified version of the body and interior tub from the original issue 70 Coronet combined with the modern tooling (90's) chassis from the Round2 68/69 Road Runner/GTX kits.

As the original 70 Coronet used a chassis that was essentially the same as the 66 Charger chassis, I would presume that the chassis that fits the 70 Coronet would also fit the 66 Charger.

I'm sure "b-body" chassis are all similar,  I've got a few to try and fit up. The glue bomb is currently soaking, things are looking good for saving. The glass might be an issue.

If you must buy a kit for parts, think about a Round 2 reissue '67 Charger.  It will have the glass, as well as a chassis similar to the original '66 kit unit.

Good to know. I've been doing a bit of investigating,  I don't believe this to be The original release kit, from what ive gathered on scalemates.  I'm starting to think it's a later 70's or 80's release. I'm ignorant to a lot of kit history, and was going off of the seller's information,so forgive my mistake. I'm going to amend the title.

If it is a '66, it was only made once, in 1966.  The '67 has been reissued several times.

That's what I've gathered. From looking at the car vs what I've seen online, it's not the original release,  they were molded in white. This is just my character speaking,  honesty and all.

it is the same chassis they used on their 68-74 charger kits and still used on the current  mpc country charger

Good to know, thanks Michelle. This one is pretty ratty where it was once attached to the body, and I'm not a huge fan of the engine detail and axle through the oil pan. I like the Revell and amt mopar chassis, I've got a multiples of those.

the current country charger does not have a front metal axel but plastic pegs that go through the wheel backs and get glued into the holes that the original front metal axel goes though
