This is the last of the older issue Monogram kits I never got to build as a kid as they were not the 3 in 1 kits with extra parts and rubber tires. These older kits built one way and no extra parts and usually no chrome. This first came out in the late 50's and was released around 8 or 9 times, once with an electric motor. This is the  SSP 1996 issue , I saw this kit on an online hobby shop for $59.00.

Its a 2pc body so getting rid of the line was first. Then getting the driver and mechanic bodies to line up and sanded. The steering is really a concoction, it works the way its supposed to but set it where you want and walk away. The windshield is another task, they give you a template and a clear sheet to make your own..I tried one , didnt work...I'll figure something out . I do like this kit so far and lately Im a sap for kits with drivers.

This is a fun kit. Indycals has decals for it. They also have the correct wheels and tires. I did the pink Zink car which was the 1955 winner. I'm looking forward to see what you do with the windscreen. I never did get mine to fit properly.

Classic Racing Resins sells an upgrade kit for this: https://classicracingresins.com/collections/indycar/products/1-24-1955-john-zink-special-kurtis-kraft-upgrade-conversion-kit-for-the-monogram-plastic-kit

Makes a huge difference in the finished model.  As mentioned above, Indycals has several decal sheets for this also.

Unfortunately, those upgrade kits (including the wheels and tires) have been out of stock for what feels like forever. I keep checking, though! I have a Cady set to do the Zink car.

I had a sheet of thicker clear plastic and left out the notch.20250510_133152.jpg.74365fb6f138d9b45e56a5dfeb96f237.jpg

Ordered new decals from Indycals but the nice tires/wheels are still out of stock so I will have to move on with what I have, kit parts. I chose the #19 FilterQueen Roger Ward ...should look great..thanks for the heads up on Indycals, I never heard of them so to me its another model accessory outlet.

For your clear windscreen, use clear plastic packing for any items you have brought and cut it to the size of the pattern. Last tape the clear plastic to a small bottle that's similar in size to the kits frame for a week or so. This bends it to shape. I glued the windscreen with Evergreen clear canopy glue at the very end of the build.

This was build with Indycals decals and resin wheels from a company (Etzel Speed Classics) that's long gone.  I look forward  to your build of this kit.20240806_203437.jpg.51420f50bcdbed78bedf77ab9838ac31.jpg

In paint and Indycals on...very cool product. The decals need to be cut close to the image and they work well with Micro-sol. and if its not trimmed tight to the image, no problem it blends in nice. On some reference images it has a roll bar, on others no roll bar. I elected the roll bar. Interior next. I forgot to say on the right side the body has a bump in front and behind the engine bay for the hood opening pins, these decals and the Micro- sol worked fine in this area.
