1957 Ford Fairlane 500

I am building this for my wife. Will be purple body, and white pearl interior with purple accents. I have to toss the body back into purple power as I found some issues with the color, so going another purple color for it.

Well, I found another purple I will use. So back to the stripping pool it goes!

Great kit despite its age, my wife likes purple as well as that is the color she had me use on a build for her.

This body is in the Purple power bath for a few days. I will pull it out Mon/Tue evening and then when I back to the bench I will change the color to a better purple.

I found a different shade of purple that the wife liked better. So going that route instead.

Did you use any kind of primer? How are you painting, airbrush?

So this kit I sprayed with Tamiya light grey primer (can) and that purple was done with Krylon, and I had some bubbles in it, and then I found a purple the wife liked that Tamiya has in the spray can. So into the pool it went. 

I am a spray can guy, and brush work as well, but will be learning the airbrush as well to save me money and learn a new technique.

Oh, yea, you'll definitely get much better results from the Tamiya spray! Krylon is kinda hard to work with, which is why most folks use it for things like interiors and chassis bits.....

Oh for sure! I had hoped but I think once I learn the airbrush, and decant the purple and thin it down, I may get better results (I have some scrap I can practice on) 

I am a Tamiya fan tbh. But I do use other acrylic brands for my stuff too.

Tonight I got the back seat mounted in the interior tub, the front bench put together, the engine assembled and primed. The rear end primed and painted.  

Soon I will finish assembly on the engine and paint, and then wash the interior tub stuff and then let it dry for a couple weeks. Then prime when I get home. (Gonna try and remember to take pics of progress) 

Hoping the body will be ready for a wash by then, as of now... the paint still isn't wanting to cooperate with removal, may have to give it a 90% alcohol bath next.
