Mike 1017 Posted June 15 Posted June 15 The 1:1 had work done to the shock towers to make room for the engine. Does the Revell Boss 429 have the reworked shock towers? Mike
Keef Posted June 15 Posted June 15 Comparing an original 1970 Boss429 kit to a 1970 Boss302 kit and my answer is no they didn’t.
Mark Posted June 15 Posted June 15 The 429 version of the kit was done long before the 302. The towers must be correct for the 429, otherwise the engine wouldn't fit. The 302 is the incorrect kit, using the 429 kit's body unchanged in that respect. 1

gtx6970 Posted June 15 Posted June 15 (edited) Imo. The engine in that kit is undersized compared to the actual car. They were a tight fit Edited June 20 by gtx6970 1 1
Bills72sj Posted June 16 Posted June 16 I converted a Revell 69 Mach 1 to a Boss 429. It fit fine. When I put a 427 Cammer in a 67 GT, The shock towers were almost completely removed. 1

Force Posted June 20 Posted June 20 (edited) Revell/Monogram took some liberty when the designed the engine bay and the shock/spring towers on the model kits. Here is how the real Boss 429 tower to the left looks like compared with the stock Mustang tower to the right. Edited June 20 by Force 2 1
