iamsuperdan Posted July 1 Posted July 1 Every Canada Day, my town hosts its annual car show. Hundreds of vehicles show up and take over the downtown area. Weather was awesome, one cloud rolled over though and soaked everyone for a few minutes. It's funny seeing the difference in car people. Some guys were in full panic station, and rushing to cover their cars. Others rushing to get their tops or windows up. And others could not care less. Sat in their chairs and visited, then wiped the cars down after. Funnily enough, the nicest cars, and possibly the highest value cars had the owners who didn't mind a little water. Anyway, here are a few pics. 10
DJMar Posted July 2 Posted July 2 Great lineup, thanks for posting them. Even though the Ramcharger aficionado in me is silently screaming, this gives me ideas. 1
Falcon Ranchero Posted July 2 Posted July 2 Really like that Fargo van and the Corvair Lakewood wagon as well as the Aussie Charger; a rare sight for sure. But that '60 Plymouth was outta sight. Still have yet to see one in real life.

The front splitter is made from plywood, with hardware store supports. The center console is also made of wood and looks it. The rear spoiler is made from old license plates. It's kind of terrible, and all kinds of awesome! 7 hours ago, DanL said: Looks like Spruce Grove, Alberta... Great pictures Close. It's Stony Plain. 3 hours ago, Falcon Ranchero said: But that '60 Plymouth was outta sight. Still have yet to see one in real life. I didn't see it at this show, but there's a white hardtop that is usually at all the local shows too. 2
espo Posted July 2 Posted July 2 Beautiful looking vehicles and a few interesting ones as well. As for rain, I can understand wanting to roll up the windows or raise a convertible top in a down pour, but don't they use water to clean the vehicle in the first place?

Getting wet typically won't destroy a car, so I have no idea what these guys are thinking. I should have shot some video. Guys were literally panicking, running around like destruction was imminent. Getting peopel out of the way, grabbing covers from their trunk, yelling at wives to help them get the cover on. It was ridiculous. And I remember from my days working for Porsche, there were guys like this. If it looked like rain, they wouldn't drive their car.
chryslerjunkandstuff Posted July 2 Posted July 2 (edited) It's just a little rain, jeez louise!! Those dudes are weird.. In 2017, I found and purchased a real deal, rust free, complete, numbers matching 1970 Chevelle SS 454 LS6 still wearing its slightly faded original Cranberry Red w/ black stripes, black buckets & console, 4-speed, 4.10:1 14-bolt rear, jacked up with air shocks in the back, mandatory Centerline trashcan lid wheels, and bright yellow traction bars.. It was the kind early 80s hot rod that everybody drove back then from what I gathered.. I dunno, I wasn't born yet.. And, what I paid for it was the kind of deal that would make ALL of YOU just sick lol! Those rain worrying kinds of dudes would lose sleep over the fact that I drove that car daily for the next 3 years, and I drove it HARD, and EVERYWHERE, in spite of the average of 6 mpg, adding some 20,000 miles to the 44,000 original miles that it had on it when I bought it.. Rain, shine, sleet, snow, mud, didn't matter! I even scored some hail dents during the 2018 tornado season way out in Iowa.. And again in 2019 going after what would later be known as the Dayton, Ohio Memorial Day EF4 tornado.. They're only cars, COOL cars, but, just cars.. My LS6, 1-of-4,475 built, went to its new owner in 2020, and has since been obsessively OVER-restored, and is now never driven, and is the kind of concours show car that literally gets pushed from the trailer, to the show field, and back again.. Anyway, my Canadian friend, THANK YOU for posting your pics from that Canada Day show! That Fargo van is excellent, and the obvious star of the show is that rare and beautiful 1960 Plymouth Fury convertible, but I can't help but dig that gray square body Chevy truck with the front mounted spare tire the most! Big fan of the '60 full-size Plymouths. Interesting story about your all original Chevelle; my friend just last year bought an all-original '69 Chrysler Newport. He's been driving it to highschool these past months. Has an 8-track player in it and buncha 8-tracks too.

It was ridiculous. And I remember from my days working for Porsche, there were guys like this. If it looked like rain, they wouldn't drive their car. I had a somewhat similar experience, but a different threat to the show cars, years ago. Years ago, I lived in Sacramento Ca., and they were having a large car show at the County Fair Grounds. There were more than a hundred cars and trucks along with concession stands and a manufacturers area. This was covering one of the large parking lots and some of the permeant structures behind a fenced area were being painted with a large spray gun. There was a breeze that day and as bad luck would have it the over spray, barely a mist, was drifting down onto several rows of cars on display. To my amazement no one seemed to notice as the tiny dots of paint was settling on the cars. I went to the security area and informed them of the problem, and it was as if this was the first they had heard of it. The paint mist was clearly visible, and the source of the problem was someone on the second story of the building on the fairgrounds. We left shortly afterwards, and the guy was still painting away as if nothing was happening.

Tyreman Posted July 7 Posted July 7 I like the A body Charger...a Canadian model? 770 Australian? 6cl or V8? no worries if you know nothing about it.

The yellow one? According to his boomer sign, that is a Valiant Charger imported from Austrailia. Definitely right hand drive, definitely one of the more unique cars there. A couple of dozen tri-5 Chevys, a ton of Mustangs, but only one Aussie Charger! 1
