Sittin here last night bout 8 or 9 an was Chattin with friends, when I noticed the lights kept acting like they wanted to go out. Well I find out theres a wicked nasty storm about 30 minutes north of here dropping tornado warnings . I shut the puter down just in case and kept the news channel on watching this storm take its time coming straight for us. Well after a few hours it gets here but starts sliding east missing town so I give up and go to bed. around 12:30 I get woke up by this thundering on the roof. I jump up an run out to find the the tail of the storm dropped just into town and was dropping hail.

Put it here next to my Revell 06 Mustang for comparison watching it come down on the cars outside it might as well have been that big

Lucky for us tho theres just a few dents in the lids of the van and Mustang Not sure about my pickup yet cause its being borrowed but I haven't got the "OH dagnabbit your truck has no glass call yet "

lot of folks fared much worse. News talking bout cars with glass knocked out in Apartment parking lots nearby and some brand new cars with what they called Sheetmetal damage. Even seen a few cars with glass puched out while I was taking the kids to school . Been rainin and storming for a few weeks now and they just keep gettin worse. And they say more is coming this weekend. Wonder if this is the year we get it.

Wow! Sounds like your living in "The Day After Tomarrow" Those are big hail-balls! Most we get are little tiny ball bearings.

Hope your Mustang wasn't hurt to bad and the insureance will pay for it. They usually will cover hail-damage. One thing I'm worried about with my aluminum-bodied Honda Insight!

WOW!! that is a meaning looking hail balls.be glad it was not worse...cause it could have been.I don't live in tornado country....earthquake country is my fear.but so far we been very lucky. Thanks,Chris

you Okie's have been getting some bad weather. We in Omeeha are waiting our turn. That's some huge hail man! Was your roof ruined and did you have any vehicles outside? There was a time when I prayed for hail like that so I could get rid of a car LOL

Wow Rick! We didn't get hail anywhere near that size!

I was out at State Line Road on near Galena Ks. last night, and got some video of the lightning and heavy rain. I got hit by pea size hail while I was out there, but that was it. Here's a 1 minute nighttime video I took last night....

(It's a little dark until lightning flashes)

I was out in the dark trying to see if a tornado was coming, but alas, nadda!

Stay safe!

As for the comments about damage the cars seem fine aside from a few dings not enough to even fuss over I do think it pounded the windsheild of my 84 Mustang but it was already broken so I can't be sure. As for the roof of the house I dunno need to get up there tommorrow while I'm off and check it out Marshall I'm on my lunch right now but will come back tonight and take a look at the video

Glad all is well. I can just hear the reporters on the Weather Channel now....."This storm has a history of producing Revell Mustang size hail..."

There has been quarter-sized hail here at my house three times this spring already ;)

Not really big enough to cause any major damage, cars were protected.

We had a near-hurricane-force windstorm about a month ago that was pretty freaky...just a light rain had passed and then we got this major windstorm out of nowhere, they said it was a once in a hundred years kind of weather phenomenon.

Ya gotta love spring weather... ;)

Here in the midwest we get it all, but I've never seen hail anywhere close to that size! It must be kind of scary hearing those things pounding your roof...

Good thing that beautiful model wasn't outside! Look's like one hit with those hail-balls would've obliterated it! Does Geico have a small scale car insurance?

Rick all of your cars must be FORDS? lol

Kidding....my F150 got a couple dings last year from small marble size hail....barely see it. I can't believe them hail balls you got didn't mess your cars up real good! LUCKY!

thanks guys If they did compare em to Model cars on the weather I'd know how big they are I mean he was sayin golf ball as I jumped outta bed lol big golf balls now had he said Half a Model car sized I'd been like oh heck I aint goin out that door lol

That freak wind sounds like the one we had in 96 Grandmother said old timers called it the Devils Wind. Storms collapsed and the wind hit 100 + and the temp hit 100+ at the same time at midnight Now I know why it did it cause of the energy in the storm an all lettin go but then her explanation of it was the devil riding acrossed the plains made sence of why it was so hot right then

Harry Imagine bein asleep then hearing them pounding the roof and the brick walls of the house I jumped up outta bed like WTF!!!!!!

Fujimi, I'd never leave my cars out there especially in that lol Tho had I known it was coming I coulda sat a few diecasts out there got some wicked roll over cars lol

And Bob one dodge one Ford lol far as I know my pickup was in the area of town that got missed from what I heard today. So hopefully its fine .....tho it still has a shattered side mirror from the Quarter sized hail last time

Golf-ball sized hail, hmmmmmmmmm. Are you sure it wasn't Happy Gilmore?

Glad to know you don't leave those models out side! Would be interesting to see what that sized hail would do to die-cast models though! Probably would look like a war-zone! :)

Not to steal your thunder, but we got hit with that last week. If you want to see some real storm damage, look up pics of Carbondale, Illinois May, 09. We got hit with golf ball size hail, followed the next day with hurricane winds. The trees that did not break in half, the wind just ripped from the ground by it's roots. There was no electricity, for approximately a 60 mile radius. It was something else. I am pretty sure my car was totaled from the hail, if not, then the pieces of roofing that flew through the air and hit it, did it in.

Here is a pic from one street. This is just one street, but looked like this EVERYWHERE!!

Marshall Thats freakin crazy Hope I don't ever go outside after a storm to collect hails that big ... Might not have to go outside to get em they might just invite themselves inside

Jason No worries there You can have the Thunder and the rain and the lightning and whatever else comes out of it. I don't wanna have to top ya on this subject Sorry to hear bout ya ride but least ya are ok. Looks like all woulda been fine had those dagnabbed power lines not got in the way of the roofs. There they were minding their own business flyin around and WHAM !! some gangsta powerlines start a fight

Fujimi Ya know thats an Idea I have an old beat Diecast Crown Vic Think I'll sit it outside somewhere where theres no trees or anything to protect it for the next few nights. Wife says its supposed to cut loose again tommorrow or Saturday Just too bad I didn't know it was comin last night cause I really dunno if I want what its gonna take to bash a diecast to come back

Jason Hunt, that's a familiar photo. I mean, I have seen that and worse here. The poles snapped like that must have been and EF3? I used to be excited about crazy weather, but the older I get and my daughter being 9 years old...all that we have done up until now...it downright scares me. I don't want this stuff to happen, it's not fun like when I was a kid. Here is a link to show and read of what happened last year here. The photos don't cover it all and I ama surprised that some of the worst stuff is not there. Carquest auto parts store was completely blown apart, trees that were 50 feet tall twisted to shreds and the only humor I could find in it was a fairly new car wash had it's roof completely lifted and carried about two blocks and dropped on the edge of a busy street. The car wash was rebuilt and renamed "TORNADO WASH".....

This was about the two tornadoes that dropped about 2:30 am. I just got back from Minnesota "nnl north" and was trying to catch up on email when they hit .....right in my neighborhood. The other bad one we had was a straightline wind storm which was about 113 mph wind that swept across Omaha literally destorying whatever was weak in it's path. The scary thing about that storm was I was with my wife and kid in the car, I tried to beat the storm as it was moving 55mph with those winds...traffic lights hindered me and it caught up. Luckily I was able to get around without any bad stuff happening. You can read on that in a link here also.

Bob Black, those pics, look just like what we got hit with!!

I was literally on my way to a doctor's appointment when it hit. I realized it was not an ordinary storm, when the wind changed directions. I made it to the doctor's, and got inside before the strong stuff hit. I was locked safely in the doctors office when the roof started coming off and began hitting my car. I wish I could find the pics of the gas station across from the college. They

(Hucks) lost the awning? over the fuel pumps as well as a few of the fuel pumps. It literally shattered when it hit the ground, and blew pieces across the highway.

Jason Hunt....scary stuff huh? When the two hit at 2:30am I heard one touch down when all the debris started riveting the foundation of my basement ( I used to be down there with computer). I immediately knew what was happening and as I ran upstairs the front glass door blew open. I opened the inside door to pull it shut and I really had to pull , but got it shut. I didn't think about it at the time...but something could have hit me.

I got up the second set of stairs and was yelling at the top of my lungs for wife and kid because I didn't know where they were. Sometimes they sleep on couches if it's hot.

I could hear and feel the house shaking and I yelled at them to get downstairs NOW! Got them down there and under the stairs (only place to go) and we sat there while the wind was so loud we could not hear anything else. It got quiet and I heard the other one touch down and really started to pray. The power went out....was on cell phone with my mom across town asking her what was going on.....it was CALM there and she couldn't understand why I was yelling and asking her to tell me what tv said.

Scary is not the word.....
