bogger44 Posted Tuesday at 07:15 PM Posted Tuesday at 07:15 PM Managed to drag another kit across the finish line on Sunday. Salvino's JR kit, not too bad to put together. Box stock other than ignition wires, scratch made rear window braces, and opened up exhaust dump ends. Tamiya TS-23 Light Blue hosed down everywhere. I did use Powerslide's decals for the vermillion. Those huge decals gave me problems even with lots of setting solution, heat, and time. I did the best I could with them and called it good. In the end I had to mix up a small batch of paint and do some touch-ups here and there. Not my best work by any means, but still love the looks of it and glad to add this iconic racecar to my collection. Thanks fer lookin' and any comments/questions. 5 1
Horrorshow Posted Tuesday at 08:28 PM Posted Tuesday at 08:28 PM Wow, that’s real nice, I have one in the stash. Looked real hard, don’t see any decal issues
bbowser Posted Tuesday at 08:29 PM Posted Tuesday at 08:29 PM Looks great in the pics, nice clean build.
Coyote_6 Posted Tuesday at 08:53 PM Posted Tuesday at 08:53 PM (edited) Beautiful work. I want to do one now! Decals look great. Also, great shots as well. You got just the right angles on that one. Nice job! Is the stance out of the box or did you have to drop it a bit? ('Cause that looks perfect too!) Steve Edited Tuesday at 08:55 PM by Coyote_6
1959scudetto Posted Wednesday at 12:02 PM Posted Wednesday at 12:02 PM Awesome model of this iconic racer, Tony ! If I had to choose one NASCAR model for my collection, it would be this one. Excellent photography, tool
Mike 1017 Posted Wednesday at 01:00 PM Posted Wednesday at 01:00 PM Great build of a Historic NASCAR Legend. Are the side decals one piece?
FUSIONBOY Posted Wednesday at 08:56 PM Posted Wednesday at 08:56 PM Very Sharp Looking Build!!!! Ill date myself when I say that i built MPC's original STP Charger as a kid. those full side decals were not kid friendly! I received the Cale Yarbouroh Chevelle from the Golden Wheels program and it had the full side decal for Kar-Kare also. did not work out well either.
pulln4dejr Posted Wednesday at 10:26 PM Posted Wednesday at 10:26 PM Super nice! Kudos on the Vermillion decals, they’re a bear but you did an awesome job! 👏🏻👏🏻

The stance is technically out of the box, however, I didn't seat the frontside of the chassis all the way up into the body. I did that as a result of the breathers sitting too high and not allowing the hood to sit flush (still not perfect but much better). I have heard some builders have rectified this issue by modding the crossmember to allow the engine to sit lower. On 7/30/2025 at 8:00 AM, Mike 1017 said: Great build of a Historic NASCAR Legend.
