Hoffman Posted July 31 Posted July 31 1/24 Leo Models 1954 Lancia Aurelia B24 Spyder Wheels: Hatchette Pegaso Z102 narrowed, with knock-offs from a Heller Alfa Romeo 1750 Zagato. Tires: Spec Cast ’32 Ford Interior: Repainted from pinkish shade of red to dark green with dark green flocked carpet. Chrome: Molotow used for the windshield frame and tail light bezels. HVAC chrome duct tape for the rocker moldings. These B24 Spyders tend to sit a little high in the nose, so I set the model’s ride height to match. The disk wheels and hub caps it came with were perfectly fine, I just like the car even more with chrome wire wheels. The knock-offs from a Heller Alfa are about the right size, and proportional to the wheels, as compared to the full size Lancia. I know, they’re BIG, just like the real thing. Enjoy! 3
1959scudetto Posted July 31 Posted July 31 Very nice conversion, Tim - great to see something from you again. I have been thinking about the use of the Pegaso wheels for this one, too, keeping the cream version with the steel wheels and cionverting the silver one in a similar way.
Hoffman Posted Friday at 04:09 AM Author Posted Friday at 04:09 AM Great minds think alike, Helmut! 😄 1
Gramps46 Posted Monday at 10:54 AM Posted Monday at 10:54 AM Oh yes! Very well done conversion. I had not seen this Lancia model before, is it fairly new?
Hoffman Posted 15 hours ago Author Posted 15 hours ago Thank you, Gary! Yeah, I think these have been around for awhile. There's also a nice cream / pale yellow colored version with fairly bright green interior and wheels. That matches one of the factory offered color schemes. I'd like to get one in those colors but haven't seen anything but the silver version recently. The B24 has really nice lines. The Leo Models line in general have very crisp castings, great fit of opening doors, hoods, etc, very accurate representations of the subject matter. The chassis and suspension are quite modest, not much detail, but overall they're pretty nice. I like that they cover unusual subjects compared to domestic offerings in the US. I enjoy blowing them apart, detail painting interiors, going over silver painted trim with a Molotow pen, improving wheels and tires, etc. Occasionally I'll repaint the body too if it's not in good shape or I really want a different color. A couple times I've color sanded and polished them if the paint was too wavy or something. They're fun. 😃
