FLHCAHZ Posted October 3 Author Posted October 3 The carpet and padding is out! Wore lots of ppe to safeguard against the mold and mouse droppings. Working to remove the floor console now. I have a few stuck fasteners soaking in penetrating fluid and hopefully will get back to it on Sunday.
FLHCAHZ Posted October 10 Author Posted October 10 I was able to get the console out last night. Didn't even break anything. I put it on the bench and started cleaning it so it's ready when I'm going to put it back in. Came out better than I had expected: 2
FLHCAHZ Posted October 15 Author Posted October 15 All of the floor covering and insulation is finally out. I've ordered some replacement floor pans for the worst of it, the rest will get patches welded in. Wont be pretty, but it will be strong and safe. You can see some of the original color in the pic: 2
Zen Posted October 15 Posted October 15 So, it was originally green? Did you anticipate finding a rusted floor in there?

Good to hear you can get floor pans for it. when I had mine you couldn't get them. IIRC, my floor was about the same as yours, maybe a bit worse, including the whole trunk floor. 1

Yep, original color was green (Emerald Mist). I did anticipate some rust in the floor, but maybe no this much. It looks a lot worse in the pictures because I took a pointed body hammer and beat the snot out of it to expose any weakness. Not a a big deal to weld new metal in though. FLHCAHZ Posted October 21 Author Posted October 21 The floor pans are supposed to be delivered today. Since the last update, I used a wire wheel and shop vac to get the rest of the fuzzies and surface rust gone. I have also replaced one of the seat studs that I had to cut to get the drivers seat out. After the floor is done, I am planning on painting it with Rustoleum Farm and implement paint and primer. I have it in my cabinet left over from some work I did on my Silverado. 1
FLHCAHZ Posted October 27 Author Posted October 27 Did some fabbing on the floors over the weekend. 2
FLHCAHZ Posted Monday at 11:36 AM Author Posted Monday at 11:36 AM I got the left under the rear seat pan in over the weekend. Its UGLY, but strong and no one will ever see it. Most importantly though is that I learned a bunch and the passenger side shouldn't be that bad 1
Bills72sj Posted yesterday at 05:54 AM Posted yesterday at 05:54 AM Seeing your floor pans makes me SO glad my 72 Grand Prix is so solid. 1
