Musclecarbuilder Posted Monday at 12:46 PM Author Posted Monday at 12:46 PM Ok so I finally got a title for it in the mail the other day so now I'm gonna start the cleaning process. Any recommendations for disinfecting the rat feces that this thing has been invaded with? I would prefer not to catch some kind of illness from cleaning this thing. 😅
johnyrotten Posted Monday at 01:34 PM Posted Monday at 01:34 PM Get a good respirator/mask and gloves. I'd pull the seat/console and carpet. And check the heater box(cabin filter if it has one) and under the rear seat. critters love to get into the tightest spots.

They're on Amazon, not too expensive at all. And a set of drill brushes. These are brushes about 3-4" diameter that fit on any drill. Will do great for scrubbing fabrics. I'd also remove everything first. Completely disassemble, because you never know what's hiding behind door panels or side panels or under the backseat, etc. Carpets out for sure. And keep everything wet. A misting of water or cleaner before starting will keep the dust and mold spores from becomingt airborne. And get a respirator, safety glasses, latex gloves, and those white Tyvek coveralls. Stay protected! 1
stitchdup Posted Monday at 03:09 PM Posted Monday at 03:09 PM i saw a dry ice fabric cleaner on car sos. it was impressive and didn't get everything soaked.

FoMoCo66 Posted Thursday at 03:08 AM Posted Thursday at 03:08 AM Wow, just read this topic. Looks like a solid car and a good starting platform. Insurance should be cheaper sence the vin says its a 4 banger. This project reminds me of my dad's first car, a 66 falcon that was originally a 200 6 car with 4 bolt lugs. He ended up eventually putting an 8" and 5 bolt rotors. I would definitely suggest going that route, way more options for wheels. Also an extra stud to distribute torque onto wouldn't hurt. I definitely eventually need to get a project car. I was actually at a goodguys car show with my dad and his falcon. Not many people know much about or are interested in the 3rd gen falcons so we were surprised when we saw someone crawling all over the car. He told us that he had a 66 comet post car (same roof line as the falcon) and needed to see some reference. The fact that my dad's car has only been painted and entire rolling assembly replaced for the v8, it excellent reference. All the panels are the factory spacing, everything opens and closes like butter, and no trim has ever been toutched (main part he was interested in). Interior has also never been touched at all. I would say he made a good choice for a reference. Anyway this guy was surprised to see a young guy like me so interested in 60s cars. He actually stopped working on the car after he got a divorce with his ex wife. So he offered the car to us for 8k. Rust has been repaired, built big block ford, all interior pices are there, and basically everything just needs assembled. Life was busy at the time and we have not accepted the offer, still busy now so its still in the air.

My Dad just recently got a 65 Comet Caliente that from my grandpa (Its REALLY rusty) and can't afford to fix the rust issues cuz those Comet quarters are not reproduced anywhere. I know the '66 is a different body style so maybe someone makes quarters for it, but since it's rust free I would definitely buy it. 1

Yeah, I really want to get it but unfortunately I dont have the money and life is busy. First off, look for 64-65 falcon patch panels, based off the same platform and quite a bit of the sheet metal are somewhat interchangable. The 66 comet is based on the fairlane and falcon of that year. Im pretty sure you can get patches for the 66-67 comet by itself as well.

See I told my dad the same thing when he was looking for quarters on his Comet, but he said that quarters for a Falcon/66-67 Comet are far more expensive than that of a '66 Mustang (Which is what he has now). I'm still trying to get him to fix the Comet though because it's very sentimental to him; its the car he learned how to drive a stick on when he was a kid. Dude I totally get the busy/no money part, I can't afford a half decent running driving Fox, (They're usually around 10K in here in TN) and a non-running roller is almost 6k!! So when I found this car in the woods for 300 bucks I couldn't pass up on it. 2

Killer deal. You're way far ahead of the game at 300 bucks and titled. Nothing exists at that price and condition around me. The closest I've found was a 64 dodge for $650. With no glass intact for the last 30 years. If you know mopars, you know that car was shot.
