Scale-Master Posted August 12 Posted August 12 Tamiya 1/24th scale kit. I'm building it in the Nouvelle Blue Pearl exterior with Orchid interior as offered in 2017. I started with the body so it could cure while the rest of the car was being built. I used Tamiya LP-47 Pearl Blue, it covers well and glosses up even better. 4
Scale-Master Posted Sunday at 04:34 PM Author Posted Sunday at 04:34 PM I used Tamiya LP and acrylic paints for the interior. Pearl White and various blacks and grays. Since I brush painted the acrylic colors, and it was pretty warm here, I used the Tamiya paint retarder and was very pleased how it worked and made the paint flow smoothly. 1
Scale-Master Posted yesterday at 04:32 PM Author Posted yesterday at 04:32 PM I don't think much of the engine or chassis will be visible once the car is done, but I went ahead and detail painted every part as called out in the instructions just for fun. That was quite a bit of drill time for the brake rotors. There are indentations molded in that help with the pattern. So far every piece fits great. 3
BK9300 Posted yesterday at 05:18 PM Posted yesterday at 05:18 PM Beautifully detailed! Are your door pulls and chrome dash pieces kit chrome or did you paint them? 1
Matt Bacon Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago Looks great — typical Tamiya design and quality with beautifully executed painting and assembly by you. The blue is a lovely choice for the exterior and the interior looks timeless and classic. I must admit, I’m surprised by the chrome metal accents around the dash… I would have thought the potential for dazzling and distracting reflections was pretty high, especially in California! best, M. 1

The are plated parts from the kit. And you have the choice of LHD or RHD. I agree Matt, the potential reflections could be very distracting. One of my Corvettes has high gloss carbon fiber on the console and just driving next to power lines is still very distracting.
meechum68 Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago That looks great! I will have to pick up some of the retarder for my acrylics for sure! 1
Mattilacken Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago Looking great! the chrome details in the interior is super nice! 1
