junkyardjeff Posted August 16 Posted August 16 Did the original kit have a top similar to the 51 Victoria,if so I am going to see if I can find one. I would like to see if I can build me a 51.
Can-Con Posted August 17 Posted August 17 (edited) Yes, it did but it's chopped. Edited August 17 by Can-Con 1
stavanzer Posted August 17 Posted August 17 Some Resin Caster did copies of those tops many years ago, but I have no idea who it was.
junkyardjeff Posted August 17 Author Posted August 17 It looks like I will be getting a 50 kit for the hopped up flathead parts for a 60s 49 build and would like to build a 51 hard top but I could make a chopped top custom hard top.

That would be Modelhaus: They offered both the Carson top and Chopped Vicky roof section. Perhaps the (stock) roof from Lindbergs 1953 Ford Coupé can be used as base for a conversion?
Mark Posted Sunday at 10:56 AM Posted Sunday at 10:56 AM Recent issues of the '50 have the rear glass for that top, but the top itself was only in the first issue.
ChrisBcritter Posted Monday at 07:45 AM Posted Monday at 07:45 AM The chopped hardtop could be brought back to stock height by using the stock '50 windshield, adding material to the bottom of the C-pillars, and shortening the length of the roof a bit. Then you could scrounge the correct dash, hubcaps, double bullet grille, bumpers and taillights from an Ideal '51 Ford convertible kit (those are the only usable parts on that kit; the rest is a misshapen mess).
