Anyone know where I can get some 0.8mm diameter threaded rod? I know Scale Hardware  has 0.8mm diameter hex bolts, but the smallest threaded rod they list is 1mm diameter and I need 0.8mm. Any help appreciated!

Thanks!

McMaster-Carr is usually good for odd stuff but the smallest I see there is 2mm and 0-80 sizes. Good luck…that is some REALLY tiny stuff.🧐

Edit: you could possibly get the bolts from scale hardware and solder them to a piece of brass rod to get the length you need? File a flat on each piece to get a half-round profile so that you have a lap joint for more strength rather than just a butt joint.

Edit2: Here’s a link to a thread with a list of small hardware suppliers you could investigate.

Thanks much, Greg - very helpful. I'll check those suppliers out.

Yes, thanks! I actually found them last night. I bought some of the 000-120 threaded rod, which is pretty close to 0.8mm. The nuts seem a little big though...

Yes, the 000-120 nuts are way oversize, wrong proportions.  How about using 00-90 hardware?  Yes, it will be a bit oversize but at least the nuts have the correct proportions. I used that size on the axles in my Peterbuilt Wrecker kit. I used plain brass rod bent into a U-shape and cut threads (using 00-90 die) just in the ends to accept the nuts.  It looks pretty good to me.

Peter - the 00-090 hex nuts I'm seeing are still nearly 2mm across the flats. Where are you finding correct proportion nuts? I'm wondering if I should just cut the hex ends off my 0.8mm hex bolts and just use those - i've got a lot of .8mm hex nuts...

What I was saying is that the body 000-120 nut is out of proportion to "standard" nuts.  As you can see overall  size of 000-120 nut is the same as 00-90 nut, but 00-90 nut has the proportion of a standard nut.  In my application it was all about what looks "right" to  me.  I thought you were going to use nuts in conjunction with the threaded rod.

Ah, yes, I see. I'll try a bunch and see what works. Thanks again!
