I have a project on my bench shelf that's inspired by the first Warren, Coburn and Miller rear engined car. I have a plan to build Monogram's Long John as inspired by Mel Heath's '56 Nationals winner. I have a couple of others, like that, as well. I don't see anything at all wrong with it. I have only ever built two replicas; Dick Kraft's "The Bug" and Cook and Bedwell's dragster, from a Monogram Slingshot. Most frequently, I pull together cool features from different sources, and incorporate them into my models. I guess I mostly look to capture an era. Yes, that's very cool!😎 The historical eras of hot rodding, custom car building, drag racing is fascinating to me. It's very satisfying to pull from history and add our own creativity and spin to things👍 1

Such a fun piece and the backstory sells it! Excellent work!!! Thanks for following along! And it took me less than a year to finish which is a new record for me 🤪 lol 1

(With too many ideas of my own, I suck at building replicas) Your build here has got me thinking maybe it would be cool to throw a H&M inspired 51 Chevy into the mix 😁 I'm so glad you like it! Don't feel bad.....I find that exact replicas are hard to build. The pressure to get all the details as accurate as possible can be tough to navigate. Oh man, I would love to see a 51 chevy version! 😁👍

The fluidity of their change, from day to day, race to race, definitely adds to the challenge. There are almost always some educated guesses involved. 1
Nitro330 Posted August 26 Posted August 26 Love the back story on this and the very, very Roth-like execution. This is just way cool! Awesome job! 1

pulln4dejr Posted August 26 Posted August 26 That’s one “Fink-a-died” ride! Love it and love the back story as well! 1
