59 Impala Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 (edited) Well, this is the first time that I've tried using Sophisticated Finishes rusting product and I'm very happy with the results so far. Here are some pics of the 49 Ford. Hope ya like I got the interior finished and ready to install I'm waiting on the rest of the parts to dry overnight and then I'll rust them up. There are more pics in my Photobucket if you would like to see them. Thanks fer lookin Dan Edited May 29, 2009 by 59 Chevy Impala

Dr. Cranky Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 These are fabulous results . . . I love it. Keep it going!
george 53 Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 (edited) I jus gotta chuckle at this one, caz I KNEW the Cranky one would like it! It LOOKS GREAT, but mebbe it could use a lil more wear on the inside. It does have that abandoned out inna field look to it! Great job so far! Edited May 19, 2009 by george 53
GHoneycutt Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 The body looks great,I'll agree with George 53 it needs more wear on the inside, dust, dirt, dry rot, spider webs.
lowriderphil Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 are using the kit with the two plastic bottles or the one with the spray can and small tin can? I have the later of the two but have had issues with it, mainly because it want's me to dilute part two (small tin can) with water
59 Impala Posted May 20, 2009 Author Posted May 20, 2009 Thanks for the kind words guys. I'm going to do some more "stuff" to the interior, but I don't know what yet. I'm using the two plastic bottles. Here is a pic of what I'm using to rust this. This is the first time that I've used this stuff and I'm hooked on it. More to come Dan
Joe Handley Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 Thanks for the kind words guys. I'm going to do some more "stuff" to the interior, but I don't know what yet. I'm using the two plastic bottles. Here is a pic of what I'm using to rust this. This is the first time that I've used this stuff and I'm hooked on it. More to come Dan wow, that stuff would come in handy if anybody decides to replicat ethat Plymouth that was buried in Tulsa!
Brian Fishburn Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 Another thing you might consider for the interior is junk and debris. But the body is beautifully hideous. Don't change a thing with that!
59 Impala Posted May 22, 2009 Author Posted May 22, 2009 Thanks guys, and Brian, I'm finished with the body now. I painted the chrome with silver paint cause I didn't want the chrome to look to good as it would with BMF. I have done some more work to the interior, splash pans and bumpers. I should have some more pics up tomorrow. Dan
VW Dave Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 What can I say that hasn't been said already? Looks great, Dan! I'm glad to see you got such good results with the SF set your first time out as well.
59 Impala Posted May 23, 2009 Author Posted May 23, 2009 WOW, thanks Dave. I have some more pics of this build. I painted the moldings with silver paint instead of using BMF. I didn't want the moldings to be to shiny. I also got the splash pans done along with the bumpers. Here are some pics. Hope ya like. I also used tamiyas smoke to look like a greasy rear end. I'm also plugging up the huge hole in the side of the block and oil pan. Thanks fer lookin. Dan
59 Impala Posted May 29, 2009 Author Posted May 29, 2009 Well, I got-er-done today. Here are some pics. Hope ya like. Thanks fer lookin. Dan
