I use a company-supplied Samsung phone for work which has all the apps I need to do my everyday tasks. For the most part, everything works well.

When it comes to charging, however, well, that’s a whole ‘nuther matter. In theory, you should be able to swing a dead cat and find a charging cable that works every time.  Not me.  I’ve got one cable/adapter that works like it should. In a futile attempt to have backups, I’ve bought numerous cables and adapters from various mfrs, but this particular combination is the only one that works.  The others don’t even register as charging.
If, heaven forbid, I ever left it at home on the desk, I’d be in a world of hurt ‘cuz nothing else works.

My workplace has charging spots all over the break room, so that’s not the issue (I’ve used several of them).  I just don’t get how this can be.

Years ago, I ended up buying an iPhone for my personal use ‘cuz they offer a feature that allows charging through the “skin” of the phone, eliminating any cord/charging issues like I’m currently experiencing.

Any serious replies?

🤷‍♂️

Interesting.  Is is just a cable which has connectors on both ends and one of the connectors is a standard USB A rectangular connector which can be plugged into any of the zillion chargers out there?

Or is the charging cord permanently wired into the dedicated Samsung charger?  What do the connectors look like?

I would contact your help desk since it's a company phone. You shouldn't have to bear the cost of supplying chargers and cables. They will give you a compatible charger, and probably two, so that you can have one at home and the other at work. If it's a phone problem, they will replace it.

I have a company issued iPhone that they completely support. I have never had a personal iPhone or any interest in one. They provide all the accessories I need for it. I've never spent a dime on it.

I have a Samsung phone. The charging cable is ubc-c. I've noticed certain "wall warts" do not supply the appropriate amperage to charge it at a reasonable rate. The "higher" amp plugs I've had no issue. Cheap chargers seem to be the culprit, and check for crud in the charging port.

That UBC-C cable is what I've been told is correct by employees at various electronics places, and they fit, but only one actually charges.

If it is a generic charger, the wires carrying current from may not match up to the terminal configuration on the phone (power goiing to the wrong connections).  I thought years ago they agreed to standardize chargers and cables, but it seems they never took action.

USB C is a widely accepted industry standard,  so unless Samsung is doing something "funky", any USB charger with a USB C connector on the end of the cable should work.

USB C has more connections (24) than the standard older USB connectors which only had 5.

The cable you show looks like a standard USB A to USB C cable. I wonder if there is something custom in the phone's dedicated charger brick itself. For example the data pins of a standard USB A connector can also be used to inform the device being charged about things like fast charge capability.

If you happen to have a generic USB A to USB C cable try hooking it up to the phone's dedicated charger brick and to the phone and see if it will charge. I would be curious if that works.
