michelle Posted Saturday at 11:54 PM Posted Saturday at 11:54 PM (edited) i was thinking about this a week about this a week and a half ago that in australia back in the 70's ford chrysler and holden all offered their performance option more then just the coupes/hardtops but also on the sedans and utes which kinda puzzeled me as to why ford ,gm and chrysler/dodge/plymouth north america did not offer the performace options on their sedans i do know they did at least offer them on the ranchero and the el camino but never the sedan cars that also had 2 door coupe bodies it seems to me it is a missed opportunity so i decided to make a pair of super bees one a coupe and the other a sedan i also painted them both the same exterior and interior colors as well as having both have the same color super bee stripes i also used the same rims on both the first is the hardtop coupe it is a mpc 68 coronet rt hardtop kit the rims i got from andrey bezrodny the tires dash and steering wheel i printed from andrey bezrodny's 68 coronet sedan kit files i painted the body rust oleum 2x flat black primer and then a coat of rust oleum 2x gloss clear i painted the hood and tires and chassis rust oleum 2x flat black primer i used a red super bee bumble bee stripe decal from a mpc 68 coronet rt convertible kit's decal sheet i brush painted the interior a base color of apple barrel matte tuscan red acrylic paint and then brush painted sections in apple barrel gloss hot rod red acrylic paint i brush painted the gauge faces apple barrel gloss dandilion yellow so they would be the same color as the sedan's guages which were done with the yellow gauge face decals from a mpc 68 coronet rt convertible's decal sheet since i only had that one set of those i used a ultra fine tip black sharpie to make the gauge faces needles i painted the bumpers and rims and center console insert and exhaust tips rust oleum bright coat aluminum i brush painted the grille and tail light panel and seatbelt straps apple barrel matte black acrylic paint i painted the exterior trim and interior trim and seatbelt buckles folk art metallic sterling silver with a dead ultra fine tip sharpie i painted the rt badges apple barrel gloss red acrylic craft paint 1968 dodge super bee coupe.mp4 Edited Monday at 12:06 AM by michelle 5
michelle Posted Sunday at 12:11 AM Author Posted Sunday at 12:11 AM (edited) the second is the sedan it is andrey bezrodny's 68 coronet kit the rims and coronet rt grille/tail light panel and front half the body and front buckets i got from andrey bezrodny the grille and tail light panel and front half of the body pieces and bucket seats are from andrey bezrodny's 68 coronet rt hardtop kit files i painted the body rust oleum 2x flat black primer and then a coat of rust oleum 2x gloss clear i painted the tires and chassis and grille and tail light panel rust oleum 2x flat black primer i used a red super bee bumble bee stripe decal from a mpc 68 coronet rt convertible kit's decal sheet i brush painted the interior a base color of apple barrel matte tuscan red acrylic paint and then brush painted sections in apple barrel gloss hot rod red acrylic paint the yellow gauge face decals are from a mpc 68 coronet rt convertible's decal sheet i painted the bumpers and rims and head lights rust oleum bright coat aluminum i brush painted the hood apple barrel matte black acrylic paint i painted the exterior trim and interior trim folk art metallic sterling silver with a dead ultra fine tip sharpie i painted the rt badges apple barrel gloss red acrylic craft paint i brush painted the top of the center console folk art metallic sterling silver the center console part came from itman3d's 69 charger daytona kit files that said think chrysler/dodge plymouth North America should have offered the rt and super bee package for the 68-70 coronet sedans and the road runner and gtx packages for the 68-70 plymouth satellite sedan and they should have had ute type vehicle to go up against fords ranchero and chevy's el camino it took them till the 80's when both the ranchero and el camino lines were coming to a end to bring out a dodge equivalent 1968 dodge super bee sedan.mp4 Edited Monday at 12:03 AM by michelle 4
XYHARRY Posted yesterday at 04:06 AM Posted yesterday at 04:06 AM Hi Michelle, I think the reason Australia had more sedans than hard tops is that cars were expensive here so people more often than not bought the sedan for its practicality. Your super bees look great and the sedan version would have sold well in Australia. Well done.

Your super bees look great and the sedan version would have sold well in Australia. Well done. the point i was getting at is that your version of ford, chrysler and gm aka holden saw the potential in offering the performance packages on pretty much every version of their car lines ford put the gt 351 performance package in the coupes and utes and sedans same with holden they offered the gts performance package on the coupes the sedans and the utes and chrysler offererd the pacer and later hemi 6 pack performance on the coupes the sedans and the utes but ford, chrysler and gm north america really only offered the performace packages on just the coupes with the exception of the ranchero and the el camino from ford and gm they did not offer the performance package on the the sedans which realy would have also sold well it took till the charger came back in 05 and later when the challenger came back in 08 for the performance packages to be offered on trucks and suvs and jeeps and then gm followed with chevy trucks getting a performace package and then ford did the same with their trucks and some chevy and ford suvs got a performace package to keep up with chrysler putting them in thier suv and jeeps and now the current generation of charger comes in both a sedan and a coupe version and ford has a standard style sedan mustang planed to pair with thier coupe version and it sounds like the camaro myay be getting a couple body type options a suv crossover a sedan and most likely a coupe so in a way they are now mirroring what ford/chrysler holden australia did back in the 60's through 70's offereing more then one body style for their flagship cars and also offering the performance packages for all of them also but i still think dodge and plymouth would have made a lot more money offing the performace rt and super bee packages on the dodge coronet sedans as well and same goes for the road runner and gtx performance packages also being offered on the plymouth satellite sedans and chevy could have offered the performance pacgages on thier chevelle/malibu sedans
