meechum68 Posted October 9 Posted October 9 Figured I would start this while I have 3 others going .. because why not. This is gonna be kind of a slower build due to having to wait on parts, and figure out who get some decals made from. I was really surprised I could only find one 61 Catalina race car .. either that or my googlefu is in a massive dry snap. Here is the mock up, and should be a fun ride. 2
meechum68 Posted October 9 Author Posted October 9 This is the one I found that I like.. just will not be the same body color I am thinking... 2
gtx6970 Posted October 9 Posted October 9 (edited) Not many vintage drag car decals for this kit that I know of https://www.ebay.com/itm/332290942184? I did the Beswick car several years ago. And dont remember any build issues Edited October 9 by gtx6970 1
TopherMcGinnis Posted October 9 Posted October 9 STS will make you what you want. I think Smokey Yunick had a black/gold Catalina that was pretty sharp. You could have "The Best Da__ Model Car Garage In Town" 1

And dont remember any build issues The AMT 62 is pretty straight forward, but the Moebius 61 has a front grill fit issue, and the window rails need to be deepened a bit, so the glass fits better than sticking out above the roof. Other than that, pretty straight forward also. Looking forward to more updates. I love them old Ponchos.

Obviously, the bodies, and chrome, glass, etc are different, but the frames, and floor pans, and others are identical. I also have the Arnie Beswick car on my to do list. 2
meechum68 Posted Thursday at 10:50 PM Author Posted Thursday at 10:50 PM Decals on the way, will see what ones I go with to decide the car color. Once that happens, then it's wash the body, prime the body and lay paint. I am waiting on a few resin bits n bobs for it too. But the wheel/tire combo is staying the same.

meechum68 Posted yesterday at 12:54 AM Author Posted yesterday at 12:54 AM Got the body and tub and frame washed, will let them have a nice over night drying session. Will prime the body, tub, and frame tomorrow if things go as planned. Primed the suspension goodies. Once suspension is assembled will paint frame and go back and add some details. 1
meechum68 Posted 10 hours ago Author Posted 10 hours ago Body is in primer, the bottom of the tub is 1/2 done in prime. Tomorrow I will work on the body lines that need to be dealt with.
