Remember when all the US tech went to China and those guys started making legal products to export during the day and clones with fake markings at night flooding the Asian markets with them?

I also remember when the US market for high-quality aviation fasteners was infiltrated with cheap under-spec "offshore-made" knockoffs that had all the right markings, and plausible-but fake-paper trails and documentation, but failed under QC testing.

The episode has been pretty well buried, and very few references to it can be found.

And nobody knows how many in-service failures occurred.

Bogus aircraft parts are, unfortunately, not at all uncommon.   https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unapproved_aircraft_part

Another trigger post..... why couldn't Ford think of GalaxE instead?  Just another bloated SUV, no Coupe eh?  Old School here, proud of it, I'm not going to last.

As a current owner of two (65 and 66), I'd suggest that you keep your thoughts about abusing the Galaxie badge to yourself. 😁

There; I put the little smiley thing in so you don't get triggered, because those things make everything OK. It's almost like I said, "With all due respect."

Ahh yes. Nothing quite like a fleet campaign because a SUP notice was received, or replacing a hundred fasteners because one bad bag of screws actually made it from Stores and into the hangar.

I used to work at an helicopter repair facility, not as a mechanic but at the parts dept. Remember all too well the complaints from the mechanics about the "legit parts" not quite fitting. Left about 15 years ago, went full time into home construction. All the same BS all over again...

Yup...best year IMHO, and every bit as good looking now as it was then...

1969 Camaro SS350 Hugger Orange Muscle Car

EDIT: I had a pace-car clone for a short time, and the only thing I didn't like about it was the automatic gearbox...and the big sign on the side.

Mine might not have been this nice and was more of an unmodified standard model until I went thru the suspension and a good tuneup. But being the second owner of a small V-8 with automatic, ps & pb with factory air and dead reliable for many years. image.jpeg.88a44962d404916988506d6ebacc3f4a.jpeg

Great looking car. And being "lower trim",  find them more interesting. There's a sea of rs-ss and big block camaro's at every show. Your car would be something different.
