Biggu Posted Wednesday at 03:42 PM Posted Wednesday at 03:42 PM This is really cool. You’re nailing the look and the box look right at home on this truck. Another great idea and vision. ….
Jürgen M. Posted Wednesday at 05:25 PM Author Posted Wednesday at 05:25 PM A little more progress: The lift mechanism works. Mocked it up to see if anything gets hooked. Seems to work. 4
RoninUtah Posted Wednesday at 05:35 PM Posted Wednesday at 05:35 PM Beautiful precision in your work. This is something that FDM is probably better at than SLA- the SLA would warp, at least if I tried doing it. Great work and engineering! 1 1
Gary Chastain Posted Wednesday at 05:40 PM Posted Wednesday at 05:40 PM Your builds just make me smile, your creativity is just off the charts. What’s next? 1
Jürgen M. Posted Wednesday at 05:58 PM Author Posted Wednesday at 05:58 PM Thanks Gary! There might be things that are Not quite authentic but I like doing things according to my imagination. Had to buy some paint for the container but now I can prepare painting. First primer, then a coat of silver and then top coat. The top coat will then be sanded through on several spots to create the impression of damage. A bit of rust color and it should look good! First I'll do some mechanical damage to make it look like dented to the outside by falling in parts! 2
Jürgen M. Posted Wednesday at 06:41 PM Author Posted Wednesday at 06:41 PM (edited) The door locking mechanism works: Locked: Pushed up to unlock: Open: Edited Wednesday at 06:41 PM by Jürgen M. 6
Rockford Posted Wednesday at 06:48 PM Posted Wednesday at 06:48 PM Great job on the box. The back doors are very accurate and you've got them functional too! Well done. They're never pristine these things, right from their first load, they get battered. I won't stay behind one because little shards of metal fall out sometimes, they can shred your tyres. 1 1
Jürgen M. Posted Thursday at 05:02 PM Author Posted Thursday at 05:02 PM Got some paint on the scrap bin. Still not enough damage on the side walls! I was a bit too careful. 6
Wolf Posted Friday at 01:44 AM Posted Friday at 01:44 AM Brilliant work Jürgen. Really nice detail work. That’s the stuff I enjoy seeing the most on any build and you’re obviously a master at it with your 3D printing ability. Cheers, Wolf 1 1
Jürgen M. Posted Friday at 02:42 PM Author Posted Friday at 02:42 PM Did some damaging yesterday. I guess it's OK. And mocked-up on the truck: 3
Jürgen M. Posted Friday at 04:29 PM Author Posted Friday at 04:29 PM Made fenders with swinging mud flaps and a rear bumper: VID_20251121_085851~2.mp4 4
BK9300 Posted Friday at 05:03 PM Posted Friday at 05:03 PM Well done on the ‘used and abused’ look, Jürgen! 1 1
RoninUtah Posted Friday at 05:17 PM Posted Friday at 05:17 PM That's looking great! What a cool idea, and expertly pulled off! Now you know what to do with all those scraps and bits of old models! 1
Biggu Posted Friday at 05:39 PM Posted Friday at 05:39 PM This is really good... looks every bit the yard dog, hard worker....... one thing I meant to comment on was the hydraulic controls for the dump ram, VERY good and convincing, I really like the way you put the controls behind the cab, that is really cool,,, 1
Jürgen M. Posted Friday at 06:00 PM Author Posted Friday at 06:00 PM 😆 Exactly. Gives me room in the Box for new stuff! 1
Jürgen M. Posted Friday at 06:07 PM Author Posted Friday at 06:07 PM Licence Plate and tail lights are installed, bumper is finished. I Bent the bumper a bit (6mm aluminium tube! It's going towards the finish line. Then I have to make the scrap. 3
Jürgen M. Posted Friday at 08:50 PM Author Posted Friday at 08:50 PM I would call it finished except for the scrap. Scrap will be made this weekend! 6
Jürgen M. Posted 16 hours ago Author Posted 16 hours ago The first piece of scrap for the truck load! I used one of the IH Transtar cabs Bren had printed for me. I also had a bundle of Coca Cola decals from three different Coke trucks (GMC General, White Western Star and Pete 352) I never built as Coke trucks. I painted the cab in flat red and white and then painted a few areas in gloss red to make it look like the cab had been bleached by the sun. A bit of rust and dirt and the scrap cab was finished. Still have a few printed hoods and doors and I'm making a few car doors in the same scale. 2
Pete68 Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Looks like a hard working Louisville to me great job on this one. I like that Tag axle reminds me of my dad’s 1973 Chevy C65 dump truck he bought new he added the Tag just like yours thanks for the memories. I have to say it but I guess old corn binders do get scraped 😂. 1
Jürgen M. Posted 13 hours ago Author Posted 13 hours ago 😀👍 It's always nice when good memories come back. Glad I helped you find them again! 2
Pete68 Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago (edited) Thanks. What’s next on your bench? Edited 12 hours ago by Pete68 1
Jürgen M. Posted 11 hours ago Author Posted 11 hours ago Not sure yet. Have to finish the scrap parts first. Then I'll think about whats next! 😊 1
