Matt Bacon Posted Friday at 10:00 PM Posted Friday at 10:00 PM (edited) Hi, folks.... I know VERY little about these cars (a long time ago in a different country), but I'd like to build one of these: https://www.ringbrothers.com/gallery/invadr/3777 ...and it sure looks to me like this: is very similar. I know there IS a Monogram Grand National in 1/24 which would be the more accurate starting point, but I can't find one of those available. The above is affordable and available on eBay UK today. Are they basically the same car? It certainly looks like it... best, M. Edited Friday at 10:01 PM by Matt Bacon
T-Ray Posted Friday at 10:54 PM Posted Friday at 10:54 PM I'd have to give a Yes and No answer. The Grand National and the Cutlass are both "G" bodies and of the G body variants, they are the closest to each other. In terms of the body and chassis then yes, the Cutlass and the Regal are almost identical to each other but you should also consider that the front fascia, rear fascia, interior, engine, etc. would be different between the Grand National and the Cutlass. 1
Can-Con Posted yesterday at 01:40 AM Posted yesterday at 01:40 AM To add to what T-Ray said above, the only body panels the Regal and Cutlass share are the roof and door skins, everything else are unique to their individual makes. That said, Hey, sounds like you're planning to build a custom, not a replica of the exact car in the link then go for it. They are the same under the skin besides the engines and specific springs, shocks and sway bars [and a few other odds & ends] which would have specific rates but that doesn't matter at all on a 1/24 or 25 scale model. 1
