gtx6970 Posted Friday at 06:24 PM Posted Friday at 06:24 PM (edited) Another FINALLY out of the box, finished and in the case after far far too many years in storage  Painted this one I think at least 10 years ago with Dupli color rattle can lacquer. It crazed the surface just enough I was not happy and put it away. Until a few months ago. What was supposed to be a simple out of the box / curbside build turned into an upgrade with the modern Lindberg chassis swap.  The finish is A LONG WAY from perfect . But dang it if it didnt turn into a cool looking car on the shelf  Comments or criticisms are very much appreciated and more than welcome. Thanks for looking in   Edited Friday at 08:50 PM by gtx6970 6
gtx6970 Posted Friday at 08:18 PM Author Posted Friday at 08:18 PM (edited) They say its a fine line between bravery and stupidity.  Well, I decided to see just how fine. And made , and glued in some quarter windows to make it a sedan body. Using a spare body I have, took some tape to the inside of the body and drew out the shape and transferred that to some clear acetate sheet. Painted some small sprue pieces in a color pretty close to the body.  I do NOT recommend this to anyone I held my breath the entire time . Good thing I used clear Elmers glue JUST in case I screwed it up I felt like I had a chance to correct it. So, with Fingers crossed dove in.  NOW its done and up in my case Edited Saturday at 02:55 AM by gtx6970 4
Trainwreck Posted Saturday at 02:07 AM Posted Saturday at 02:07 AM (edited) Nice to see this one cross the finish line, Bill. So what's next? Edited Saturday at 02:08 AM by Trainwreck 1
M W Elky Posted Saturday at 02:17 AM Posted Saturday at 02:17 AM It really captured the early super stock look just right . It makes me wish I would have stashed a few johan  62 dodges away when they were cheap. 1

Who knows  All depends on what i find in the pile i guess.  I do have a couple started . Just not sure which ones gonna end up back on the bench 1st   This is most likely my last finished one for this year Edited Saturday at 04:14 PM by gtx6970
Ace-Garageguy Posted Saturday at 06:10 AM Posted Saturday at 06:10 AM Looks real good.  Funny...I used to think that was one of the ugliest cars anybody ever put on wheels. I bought a decent one with some big 2bbl V8 lump for $65 way back in about '1977, traded it even for a clean '67 VW Westphalia camper. Sure would like to have it now... 1
dphipps Posted Saturday at 02:54 PM Posted Saturday at 02:54 PM Looks great, I think the side glass and pillar was a good choice. I used to see a 4 door one of these daily driving around here, lavender with lime green outlines. Gross! Â Â 1
gtx6970 Posted Saturday at 03:10 PM Author Posted Saturday at 03:10 PM Thanks gents. They definitely have a face only a mother would love. Its not my favorite body style. But the more I worked on this one. The more I liked it. And it's definitely one of my favorites in the case .  Doing that quarter glass and trim was done with the car completely assembled. ( I dont recommended that method btw , tedious is an understatement ) I should have done it while building the car. But sadly, wasn't paying close enough attention to the photos of the actual car I have. All's well that ends well I guess. 2
Mike 1017 Posted Saturday at 03:21 PM Posted Saturday at 03:21 PM I LUV IT. I do have a soft spot for FUGLY 1
papajohn97 Posted Saturday at 03:34 PM Posted Saturday at 03:34 PM Fabulous outcome on this one and that last-minute quarter windows/ column sedan conversion looks pretty much perfect to me. Sure wish I had this build in my door slammer collection to add an early Mopar SS'er.🤞 that we someday see an injection molded kit of these "ugly duckling" '62 Darts/ Fury's (I read the Jo-Han molds are no longer so it would require new tooling by our friends at Moebius/ AMT R2/ Revell). Thank you Bill for posting the WIP as well as this UG result. Cool build! 1
Brutalform Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Nice job on the Dodge. That chassis fit looks just like it should. The addition of the windows is a nice improvement. Too many kits without the side glass out there. 1

Watching the Max Wedge and HEMI powered cars from the 60's and early 70's pick the front end up and still run quicker than most of the GM and Ford racers made me a fan for life. The fact that my parents drove Dodge's exclusively from the mid 60's until 1990 was a factor as well. The '62 Dodges aren't the best looking cars produced by Chrysler, but under the hood is where they did their talking. I still remember seeing the Blair's Speed Shop blown Fiat Toppolino running in Comp eliminator with Phil Lukens behind the wheel for several years. Good times. 1
