I want to replicate my 1:1 68 Mustang Coupe. I have found a resin 67 online, but the quality looks a little questionable. Who makes the BEST 67-68 Coupe, if anyone? I really want to avoid making my own. I appreciate any advice.

Ryan, the only good one I've found is the MCW '67 Coupe, which is probably the one you found. There is another caster that makes a '68 Coupe, but it is of very poor quility. I will do some searching for you, buddy.

just did some checking around for you, Ryan. Here's what I found. A/FX Resin makes a '69 Grande Coupe, and R&D Unique Resins makes a '68 Mustang California Special, and a road racing version. Here's some pictures.

Thanks Kevin. The 69 is a different body style. Though it is good to know there is a Grande out there. I'll have to see what the road racing version would need to be a normal plain-jane coupe.

EDIT: It seems it comes with a complete 67, WITH racing parts to make it a race car. So it reads as though it's a normal 67 with racing parts. They also have a 68 GT/CS, but both would need some reworking.

Can anyone educate me on R&D Unique's quality?

No prob, Ryan. I'll keep a look out. The only other '68 Coupe I found was a TKM Resin kit, and they are terrible quality.

Looks promising. But updated 1.23.2008? I wonder what the status of the upcoming products is currently? I guess i'll have to shoot them an email. Thanks for the Missing Link.... link. :)

Jeff, I cannot say for sure if that's the one. A builder on another site bought a 67 Resin, and showed pictures of poorly casted side vents, a hood that was too big, a bumper that was full of ripples and warps plus some other minor stuff. That picture looks familiar, but I doubt that was the one he bought, judging by how the one pictured looks. Is that one you made? It looks pretty good, but the perfectionist in me notices some things... :)

Here is the car I want to replicate, by the way.

Hey, Ryan. If the resin kit you choose does not have chrome parts, I got some Testors 1290 Chrome that looks really good.

]well, if it had that many problems im pretty sure it wudnt one of mine. as far as things that are wrong with my casting, ive sold dozens of this kit and never had a complaint. and i try to run my masters past several heavy duty rivet counters before i cast em. but let me know and if its feasable, i'll make corrections in the next mold.

Must be some mind readers here! :P

'Cuz that car is a possible next build! Actually I want to do the "Green Hornet"--------the one off Shelby that would have been a notchback Shelby coupe production model had Ford saw fit.

I too being "Mr. Obsessive", notice some things about that casting I would change, but I'm only going by one pic and not seeing it in 3D.

Ryan, It may not mean much, But I can personally vouch for Jeff Ballard and Motor City Resins! I've purchased 2 of his resin bodies, and at our next club meeting, I'm hope ing to purchase a 3rd! The resin looks JUST LIKE styrene plastic!

His conversions are just about perfect, at least I couldn't find fault in them. I own the 70 Falcon/Torino conversion, and the 71 Mustang Coupe conversion, and I hope he remembers to bring his latest one, a 67 Comet 202 coupe to this months meeting. Yes, You can buy from Jeffb and Motor City Resin with total confidence of getting a QUALITY casted kit! :P:lol:

Hope I'm not out of line with this link to another forum If so I understand why it vanished. But Making your own Doesn't seem to be a big problem. http://z6.invisionfree.com/The_Modelers_Ha...?showtopic=8598

Instead of a 67 Start with the revell 68 Body Dimensions are virtually the same between the AMT and Revell only area I noted was a bit different was the rear window , but that'd be gone anyway Just a Thought If you sdon't want resin

I haven't seen it from different angles but from the pic you posted I can tell it's a fastback rear quarter and not a coupe.

yes, this did start out as a fastback,(what else could i use?). and yes, the 1/4 does look like it slops down. but thats more in the camera than the body. i'll cast up another one and take better picks. always keep in mind, resin masters are usually made by hand, not on a machine (altho that too is changing) so if your lookin for perfect duplicate of a 1;1, a resin kit probably wont measure up.

I hope i did this right, here is a picture of the Missink Link 68 Mustang coupe, we have been selling them on ebay for some time, now, we usually sell it as a GT, but we do have yjr base hood, dash & grille! I hope this helps, Mike went through alot of trouble to master it & I like to think we have good quality & reputaion.

thanks

Thanks guys, it's good to hear that both ML and MCR have good feedback and seem to put out a good product. I won't start building this car until after my move in July, but it's good to know that I have two suitable resin options. Thanks guys!

Jeff, I'd say the one mentioned by the builder elsewhere, was not yours. I'm confident. I don't want you to think someone is out there bashing your product on another site.

no problem ryan. i resin cast for a living, and i like for our customers to have as much info as possible. that way they can spend their hard earned money without fear of getting a crappy product. when a modeler gets a junk resin piece, it makes them leary of buying resin again.

No problem, Ryan. Glad to help. If you need anything in terms of donor parts, let me know. I also may have a set of mag wheels that match your 1:1 perfectly. Good luck with your move, buddy.

I admire that Jeff. Thank you.

Crash, I have been gathering parts for this build for some time. I even have parts gathered for a 1:64th version! I'll let you know if I need anything though. Thanks. Unless Anyone else has some valuable information to add, I think this thread is pretty much done.

Didn't you do that one already????

Why yes I did!

It's crude by my standards today as I made this one in 1996 and it's one of the first body conversions I did.

Skills have gotten a lot better since then, and I've learned how to use the '66 body to make a more accurate '68 Green Hornet this time around. I've got all the parts to do the car, correct wheels from GMP, correct decals from Keith Marks, and much better detailed pics of the engine and that IRS setup. ;)
