Eshaver Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 Jeff, I do have to agree with ya on the model aspect . Generaly it's a 1-1 . I really wish I could help but here where I am , not too many shows are model related . ewer still are even 1-1 related . You generally have to go to North Carolina from here cause here they still only build planes an tanks . I will how ever keep an eye out for the car though . Dang shame when some body has to rip someone else off................ Ed Shaver
Brizio Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 Sorry to heard this! Where are you? And where did you shipped it? This will help the people in that area. I'll keep my eyes open.
59 Impala Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 Jeff, the IPMS nationals are coming up this August in Columbus Ohio. It could show up here. If I can go, I'll surely look for it and let the people who are in charge know about it. Dan
mr moto Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 Jeff, the IPMS nationals are coming up this August in Columbus Ohio. It could show up here. If I can go, I'll surely look for it and let the people who are in charge know about it. Dan That's a real longshot, too. I doubt that anybody who would enter or attend the Nats would want to steal somebody else's model. They want to build one!! It was probably stolen by somebody who couldn't imagine such a model in their wildest dreams.
Guest promodmerc Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 The Kansas City Slammers show is this weekend. I'll keep an eye out for it. I know it's a long shot but you never know.
Brizio Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 Who stolen it, probably stolen the package itself, because didn't know what was inside it. Or if you wrote model car on it, probably he is a collector, or know someone that collect/build model cars, and stolen it. So the person that stolen it should be a the Capitol heights in Maryland or the next step where they track it. I don't think he is so stupid that will enter this model in a contest... But... Who knows... Another thing to say, is that he could be a member here so, read this post, and keep the model at home... Good luck!!!!
Nova-ss Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 Sorry to hear,it a rotton shame so called people steal others art projects.it great looking.I hope you get it back and if by chance I see it I let you and those people who would need to know....good luck,Chris
mr moto Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 BTW, I neglected to mention it before but that's a fabulous piece of work. I can only imagine your feeling of loss after putting in so much effort, energy and creativity. Good luck recovering it no matter how slim the odds are.
george 53 Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 What a sleezeball! ANYONE who would do something like that isn't even worthy of THAT name, but, I can't get any obscene. When I was a young boy, A model of mine was stolen. I was only about 12 but I NEVER publicly displayed my models EVER again, and now at 56, I still don't. I was really proud of that car, and it didn't even rate when compared to the workmanship and detail in yours, but I liked it, and to have it stolen messed my little head up to the point that I'm at now! Talk about a traumatic experience! Anyhow J, I do FEEL your pain!!!!!And you have my sympathys.
Abell82 Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 It was probably stolen by, or for a diecast collector. I would watch the diecast section of EBAY, as well as the model section, and slot car section. Also I would not rule out the possibility of someone putting a different body on the chassis, to claim as their own. They could be trying to sell it or display it that way as well. Are there any pics of the chassis without the body, that could help in I.D.ing it should they replace the body? I'm truly sorry that this has happened. I hope that it does turn up, and the jack@$$ that took it gets the beat down of his life!!
Jantrix Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 Where this would no doubt be a very desirable model, I'm left worndering how anyone along the mail route would know what is in the package?
Dingo Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 Man that sucks, but I know exactly how U feel Jeff I had all my model trucks stolen when I trusted the treasurer of the club to take them to an agriculturer show in the mid North of my home state South Australia, it is also rumoured that he also took off with the club funds but that can't be comfirmed my model theft can be as he took other members models as well. Also many years ago I had a 1/16th scale truck on display at the local Kenworth dealer and it vanished never to be seen again, so Jeff I do really feel for you and I hope U do get it back and the scumbag get's his/her day in whatever way in comes. Dingo
jeffb Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 years ago, i had two of my best builds stolen from a display case at the lhs. probably was a kid cause they left several body panels behind. the store is located along a major road, i wouldnt be suprised if they were just tossed into traffic. ive never put anything in a display since.
Semi Trailer Mechanic Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 What's goin' on... Jeff I worked for a trucking company that was contracted to U.S. Mail. For that company I repaired trailers where on occation I found large and small envelopes behind scuff liners and plywood liners. Granted that a box the size you packed that model in wouldn't fit in between scuff liners and plywood there's always the slim chance of it getting lost. If someone stole it they'll pay their debt in one way or another.
jbwelda Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 i am sorry you lost that model, it looks really showstopping! i am also sorry i havent read every response in this thread but i just thought i would mention you should list this on craigslist with the reward youre offering. never know but you might even get a bite and be able to buy your piece back. best of luck sir and again sorry that happened.
RodBurNeR Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 I see a lot of models , so if it shows up I would recognize the work even with a different body. If I see it, I will take it from them and let you know. I don't care who's model it is, modelers don't or shouldn't rip each other off! (or anyone for that matter) I have a feeling that whoever took it was thinking he found a real expensive toy....in his mind thinks there are hundreds of the same one out there. I am really shocked at how many models are stolen each year, but more so from shows! I just don't get it... I had a model stolen and if I ever find out who it was, they will meet me in person. A buyer off ebay claims he never got my '64 chevy pickup and demanded a refund...if it was not him, then it had to be a mail personel. It's not the best, but it's the principal! I built this in 2000 I think, before I got online (with model sites) or ever went to a show.
