oldman23 Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 Hi Everybody, I have been looking for a pair of Holly carburetors for my 1/12th scale 69 Camaro without any luck. So I emailed Revell and told them the situation and asked if they could sell me 2 carburetors. I received a response that the kit had gone out of production in 2000 and they couldn't help me. The next day Angie contacted me from Revell and told me they found a complete kit in the warehouse that they couldn't sell because the body was crushed. I asked her if I could buy the carbs and she said NO but if I give her my address she would send me the complete kit at no charge. Angie said that after she had emailed the first response to me she felt bad that she couldn't help me out with 2 little pieces. She said she went looking for herself and one of the workers led her to the kit. I thought that was greater then sliced bread. I told her how much I appreciated her going the extra step to find the kit when she had already E-mailed me saying I was out of luck. Well this afternoon I received another E-Mail from Angie and she said the same guy that led her to the kit also found a good body and some other parts in a box they where using to send out replacement parts. She said they emptied that box into the first one and sent it all out UPS today. How Great is that? Ernie

HotRodaSaurus Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 Hi, glad to hear you had some success on those parts! exactly the opposite to my experience. I received a 1/8 63Corvette as a gift some years back, the glass parts, in particular the winshield section was badly distorted as though it had been ejected from the mould to early. This was a Revell of Germany issued kit so I took the problem up with them. After sending the requested end piece from the box with the kit number they said they would sort it and send me another part. After 3 months I received nothing so emailed them. They told me then to send the other end as the original letter must have been lost. Another 8 weeks and still nothing. I then wrote to Revell USA who replied that I should take up the problem with Revell Germany , if no more luck, to contact them again. Well, nothing from Germany so emaild Revell USA again. Months and months and I am still waiting for Revell USA this time. That was all started around 2 years ago, I'm still waiting and have really given up on getting the glass parts I require. Seems you can buy parts in the US but not much luck if you live in the UK. I could not take the kit back to the original store as I had no receipt and simply didnt have the heart to approach the person who bought it for me. Next stop! Model Cars forum parts wanted I think. Hmmm, might have done that long ago John
beefheart22 Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 Prime example of somebody who takes pride in her job.

Eshaver Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 You know someone at the OLD A M T Company when they were in Troy back in 1964 did a similar thing for me . He actually went back through the warehouse and then took the time to write me a hand written note about not finding a 1963 Corvette convertable kit . I kept that note as well as the corespondence that Budd Anderson and I had rom a couple of years earlier too. Wish I still had that stuff today as the Hurricane in 1973 got it all . Yes Angie , we should take up a collection and buy her lunch at least ! Ed Shaver
Ben Posted June 13, 2009 Posted June 13, 2009 That's really cool that they were able to help you like that! I had the same thing happen with one of my GMP Buick GNX's. One of the sun visors was missing when I got it so I called GMP and spoke with this really nice guy (forgot his name, been a while). I asked him if they kept spare parts for the cars and he told me no. He did say however, that he had a complete GNX right there and asked what I wanted off it. He sat there and disassembled it while we talked. He sent me the visors, floor mats, wheels and tires, the exhaust and I forget what all else! I thought that was pretty cool!!!

How true you are William I will do just that along with the flowers Ernie
supermike Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 ya you should at least do something for her if she went out of her way to git u some parts and not charge you anything.
Jeff Johnston Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 I agree, and I also have had really good experiences with Revell. They used to charge shipping for replacement parts, now they don't. That's a small thing, but still a nice gesture to their customers.
