Rottweiler Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 Greetings from the Buckeye State (that would be Ohio), Just a bit of info to let you know something about me. I'm 57 years old and have had an interest in plastic kits for a good protion of my life. Started building in the 50's. Buy it for a buck, bring it home, have it built 5 minutes after I open the box. Have built hundreds of kits using the above procedure. Got away from kit building for a dozen or so years. Did an occasional kit every now and then, but nothing serious. Perhaps 10 or so years ago wanted to start doing some armor kits and vowed to start building something that looked decent after completion. Concentrated on armor up until a couple of months ago and started buying aircraft. Well, I guess old habits are hard to break, because when I started I built armor, aircraft, cars, ships, figures ( the old Aurora kits) Wolfman, Creature from the Black Lagoon, Frankenstein etc.. The last couple of years found a t.v. show called Trick My Truck. Needless to say, when I saw some of the paint jobs Ryno laid down on those trucks it stirred memories of some of the old car kits, specifically the street rods with big engines and those flame decals. Currently have armor, aircraft, aircraft carriers on hand and will most likely be picking up some auto kits for that warm, fuzzy feeling I remember from years ago. I generally buy and start many more kits then I complete, but anyway, I'll be lurking about watching for pictures of your builds and perhaps ask a question every now and then. Regards, Joe

Rottweiler Posted June 29, 2009 Author Posted June 29, 2009 Hi Guys, Thanks for the welcome. I think I got that signature line thing fixed. I might be smart enough to do car models after all. Joe
george 53 Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 Welcome Joe! Like Tommy said, you sound like 90% of the guys here! Only reason it's not 100% is cas some of our members aren't as old as the rest of us, and haven't had enough time to collect all the junk us oldsters have! John E. Bowers Jr. Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 Hi Joe, I'm from Ohio also, Cambridge to be specific. You will be welcome here as you are not alone. We all love the model car building hobby.
Rottweiler Posted June 30, 2009 Author Posted June 30, 2009 Hey Guys, Thanks for the welcome. John, I live about 30 miles north of Dayton and east of I-75 near a little place called Rosewood. If you look at a map long enough, you should be able to find it. Those were definitely some fond memories. Going to the 10 cent store (5 & dime) picking up a kit and high tailing for home. I look forward to reading the posts and seeing the work of those here. Joe
59 Impala Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 Hi Joe, and welcome. I'm from Ohio also. I live in Lewis Center, north of Columbus. This is a real nice place and I'm lookin forward to seeing some of your pics of your builds. Dan
Rottweiler Posted June 30, 2009 Author Posted June 30, 2009 I've counted 3 Buckeyes so far. This must be the place for nuts to hang out. Referring only to my fellow Buckeyes, so hoping those from other states won't take offense from my comment. Joe
lordairgtar Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 Ha!! I'm from Wisconsin and we have nuttier people than Ohio. Look at our Governor.
Harry P. Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 Ha!! I'm from Wisconsin and we have nuttier people than Ohio. Look at our Governor. Ha!! I'm from Illinois and we have nuttier people than Wisconsin. Look at our Governor! (ex-guv, that is). Going on trial soon, and to jail soon after that, where he'll join our other ex-governor who's already doing time in the pen! Abe Lincoln is spinning in his grave so fast that they have to keep a water hose spraying on it at all times to keep old Honest Abe from bursting into flames!
Guest Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 Ha, I am from MN, and our former gov. was a loud mouthed former pro wrestler. What a joke.

Rottweiler Posted July 1, 2009 Author Posted July 1, 2009 Hey All, Thanks for the welcome and the smiles brought about by your comments. I've been on other sites that recognize member's birthdays and I always seem to be older than the others. It's nice to know that there are some who can remember back to the middle of last century . Joe
Harry P. Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 Ha, I am from MN, and our former gov. was a loud mouthed former pro wrestler. What a joke. And your current senator is Stuart Smalley!!! Because he's good enough... he's smart enough... and doggone it, people in Minnesota like him!
