checkmate Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Nice start, can't wait to see it with colour on it.
Custom Hearse Posted July 8, 2014 Author Posted July 8, 2014 I know you meant it in a good way James! I was just kidding ya. I gotta drive 40 miles one way Rob, just to get some paint, but the build is worth it. I'll probably go today or tomorrow to get it... Thanks!
Custom Hearse Posted July 11, 2014 Author Posted July 11, 2014 Re-doing some bodywork on this. Some spots of putty shrank, so I'm touching them up. Got the paint I've been looking for, for it, and did some tests to make sure it's compatible. I'll have an update soon!
Custom Hearse Posted July 23, 2014 Author Posted July 23, 2014 Here's an update on the van build. I'm at the final bodywork stage, sand, putty, primer, sand, putty, primer... Just touching up the little spots that need work, and smoothing them out. Here's some pictures:
redneckrodder Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 That looks great and the fireplace is pretty neat too
disabled modeler Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 I have been wanting to build a replica of my mid 70s Dodge factory custom van I once owned for years....just have to find one and a bunch of the exterior and interior goodies then. Seeing this makes the fire even hotter to build it.
Custom Hearse Posted July 30, 2014 Author Posted July 30, 2014 That looks great and the fireplace is pretty neat too Thanks James! I came up with an idea for making the fireplace bricks more realistic. I spread some red bondo putty on the plastic bricks, then used a hobby scraper to clean out the spaces between the bricks. The color and texture were perfect...
Custom Hearse Posted July 30, 2014 Author Posted July 30, 2014 Nice van! Are going to do a full interior? Thanks Jamie! Yup. check out the other pictures in this post for the interior.

Custom Hearse Posted August 4, 2014 Author Posted August 4, 2014 Finally down to 2 small spots to sand, and then I can paint!!! WHOOOPPPEEEE!!! I would fix one thing, then notice something else wasn't quite right, so I'd fix that... And of course after that was fixed... It's a vicious circle!!!
disabled modeler Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 I can't wait to see that Mark! If I had a Dodge van I'd send it to you. If I come across one it's yours. Thanks for the compliment!!! Your welcome buddy...nice work on it. Thanks....my project idea would have a big issue to overcome Id want the doors to hinge from the outside like the real ones so the interior could be seen well....it was beautiful.
Custom Hearse Posted August 6, 2014 Author Posted August 6, 2014 Your welcome buddy...nice work on it. Thanks....my project idea would have a big issue to overcome Id want the doors to hinge from the outside like the real ones so the interior could be seen well....it was beautiful. If you build it, it will work... Too cheezy?
disabled modeler Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 I have a few parts lined out for it but it will need much much more than I have plus the right body style van think the 71-76? is right for it. it definitely was full tilt 70s era style.
Custom Hearse Posted August 10, 2014 Author Posted August 10, 2014 Got some paint on it finally!!! I'll post pictures later today...
