bitner Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 (edited) This is I believe the 1977 issue of this cabover from Matchbox. I stretched the frame and added home cast resin rear drivers to it. I made the Sherman Brothers decals from a picture of their logo off the net. They are a heavy haul company based just north of Eugene, OR on I-5. I built the truck to represent one of the ones I used to see in the late 70's as a kid. It was really fun masking off those stripes. I also scratch built a new headache rack and some resin tool boxes. The trailer is the reissue ERTL extend frame Great Dane trailer. I added wheels from an AMT Peerless logging trailer instead of using the kit rims. In addition the beam load is from several of the AMT kits. Edited July 18, 2009 by bitner
mrglubaum Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 Nice job! I remember the Sherman Bros. trucks very well from when I used to run I-5 for May Trucking! Lee
Kostas Parchas Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 That is a very nice rig. C O O L paint job, I can't wait to see pictures under the sun!!! Kostas.
dptydawg Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 (edited) Good looking rig. I realy like your paint scheme. The load straps are a nice touch also. Carl Edited July 15, 2009 by dptydawg
SpreadAxle Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 This is a nice rig. The rack and toolboxes are a nice touch.
CFnutcase Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 Very nice job on the rig! I love all the details, the chains haging on the truck, the flairs on the cab over the front wheels, little things like that go a long way to make it look "right" Jim
Foxer Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 That's a great looking truck .. and build! I'm a Structural Engineer, so forgive me for this, but that is a load of trusses, not beams. But, I'm sure AMT probably called them a "beam load".
Airfilter Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 Excellent work, and the painting is very beautiful. One of my favorite eras. I look forward to more photos.
Aaronw Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 Very nice, I love all the small details like the multi-state tags above the license plate, and other small bits that really make it look like the real thing.
RodneyBad Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 Nice truck, Love the paint job. Nice trailer and load with straps.. Great job.
