diymirage Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 well guys its official the wife and i went to the doctor today and we got the hear our first childs heartbeat she is 10 weeks along so it looks like that spare bedroom on the mainlevel which i have claimed as my hobbyroom will be turned into a nursery after all
62rebel Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 congrats on the baby; sympathy on the hobby room. tell you what you do.... i saw this setup at a local used furniture store a LONG time ago, it looked like it was made by a painter or other artist for a portable (sort of) shop. basically, it was a cabinet about 4' square and overall about 2' deep. it was split down the front into two separate opening cabinet/doors in which were even MORE cabinets built, as well as shelves. the back, proper, was a series of shallow shelves down each side with a pegboard section in the middle. it even had a folding work lamp attached to the inside back. there was a divider between the doors and the back which, when folded down, attached to the doors and formed a worktable. it had white or light grey linoleum on it. loaded with tools and paints, it'd be a laod for two men to move..... but it's an idea of how to make a portable shop that can be locked to keep the dangerous stuff out of childrens' reach. i'd have bought it but with 2 extra bedrooms i don't need it...
RJWood Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 CONGRATULATIONS EELCO, I'm guessing late January early February for the new release? Make sure to keep us updated for the big day. I'm really happy for you and your wife. I wish you and her all the best my frend. Cheers, Ron

Hopefully you can get them into models, My daughter used to build with me till she found out about boys, around 12/13. I still have her cars on my shelves, to show her kids sometime inna future. Have as much fun as you can EL, they'll grow up on you SO fast, then give ya Grandkids that you can REALLY spoil (payback is a MUG!!!!) So very happy for ya, God Bless you's ALL!
diymirage Posted July 21, 2009 Author Posted July 21, 2009 thanks guys the big day is set for march 17 , one month after the wifeys birthday as for the mobile hobby set up, when i first picked the hoby back up i got a small rolling desk with a few shelves and a drawer in it but when we bought the house this januari i slowly but surely moved into the spare bedroom lining it with bookcases on which i keep my kits, tools partsboxes and what nots but i guess that is called the nursery now and no place for paints and glues (i got a feeling im going to be missing that smell in there) on the bright side, i get to pick one of the basement rooms and finish it to my likings
PlasticWagens Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 (edited) Congratulations! For me being a basement modeler myself, I could not be happier. She has no idea what is ne and what is not. When i was a main floor obstruction from time to time it was easier for her to take inventory. Now she has given up. Edited July 21, 2009 by PlasticWagens
RodneyBad Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 Congrats. You lost a hobbie room and gained an addition to the family. Quick, go claim the whole basement I was able to claim 1 1/2 rooms and a garage. We don't have a basement. Grrrrrrrrr
diymirage Posted July 21, 2009 Author Posted July 21, 2009 the garage is all mine when we went hosue shopping i told the realtor: if it has less then a two stall dont bother im thinking of using the two boxes of laminate i have left to do (at least a partial) laminate floor in my new hoby room, that should make it easyer to find dropped parts im so exited and scared to death at the same time
Harry P. Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 So.... is this one going to be an all-new tool or a re-issue?
old low&slo Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 congrats on the future addition to the family and welcome to the basement. I love it down here !!! great place to getaway and relax so make sure to fix it up to your liking.
B_rad88 Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 congrats bro! and watch it, you said the big day is one month past your wifes? well that baby might come a month early! my sister was born on my 11th b-day! and sorry to hear that you got the boot! and i hope you got proper venting down there other wise you will be "feeling" those paints and glues!
ricky12 Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 congrats on the new young one on the way and being inthe basement my self it isnt all bad like others have said make sure you get it set up the way you want . probley wouldnt be a bad idea for the future to make that a room that could be shut up and locked it need be once that young one starts moveing . also make sure to come up with plenty of lighting .
diymirage Posted July 21, 2009 Author Posted July 21, 2009 So.... is this one going to be an all-new tool or a re-issue? this will be a completely new tooling the house doesnt have a finished basement so i get to pick eveything from floorcovering to drywall (get to install it all myself too im afraid) when we moved in we did the entire upstairs, paint flooring and what not so all the babys room needs is for me to evacuate it
Custom Hearse Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 So.... is this one going to be an all-new tool or a re-issue? Yup Harry and the baby will have an AMT/MPC/Round 2 birthmark! Congratulations Eelco! My best wishes for you and your wife!
Cornpatch Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 Congrats on the new edition to the family. Giving up your room and having to move to the basement, is only a minor give up compared to the major giveups that a new baby is going to bring. A new baby is a wonderfull addition to a family, but it changes your life as you know it. And it is a great change. I know, as I have 6 kids and 4 grandkids, and it makes for a great life. Jeff
MikeMc Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 Yup Harry and the baby will have an AMT/MPC/Round 2 birthmark! Congratulations Eelco! My best wishes for you and your wife! Yepppp!!!! I chuckle as my son who is 25 moved back into my house, his old room (was my hobbie room) and now I'm stuck in the closet!!! and NO I'm NOT coming out
diymirage Posted July 21, 2009 Author Posted July 21, 2009 Yepppp!!!! I chuckle as my son who is 25 moved back into my house, his old room (was my hobbie room) and now I'm stuck in the closet!!! and NO I'm NOT coming out that made me laugh i actually tried to comvince the wife that her walk in closet would be perfect as a nursery it is definatly big enough easy acces from the bedroom and so on and so forth but to no avail

steve_b Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 Congrats Eelco.... Look at the best side of it all....you get to build the hobby room that EXACT way you want it... and if your lucky, larger than you have now
locoengr Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 NOTHING in the world compares to holding the first child for the first time. Congratualtions! Moving to the basement...now you can have have a "man cave" as that is where my build area is. I love it down there. Back to the baby....hearing that little heartbeat is the greatest. Best of everything to you, the wife and your little one Eelco.
