congrats on the baby; sympathy on the hobby room. tell you what you do.... i saw this setup at a local used furniture store a LONG time ago, it looked like it was made by a painter or other artist for a portable (sort of) shop. basically, it was a cabinet about 4' square and overall about 2' deep. it was split down the front into two separate opening cabinet/doors in which were even MORE cabinets built, as well as shelves. the back, proper, was a series of shallow shelves down each side with a pegboard section in the middle. it even had a folding work lamp attached to the inside back. there was a divider between the doors and the back which, when folded down, attached to the doors and formed a worktable. it had white or light grey linoleum on it. loaded with tools and paints, it'd be a laod for two men to move..... but it's an idea of how to make a portable shop that can be locked to keep the dangerous stuff out of childrens' reach. i'd have bought it but with 2 extra bedrooms i don't need it...

thanks guys

the big day is set for march 17 , one month after the wifeys birthday

as for the mobile hobby set up, when i first picked the hoby back up i got a small rolling desk with a few shelves and a drawer in it

but when we bought the house this januari i slowly but surely moved into the spare bedroom

lining it with bookcases on which i keep my kits, tools partsboxes and what nots

but i guess that is called the nursery now and no place for paints and glues (i got a feeling im going to be missing that smell in there)

on the bright side, i get to pick one of the basement rooms and finish it to my likings ;)

Congratulations! For me being a basement modeler myself, I could not be happier. She has no idea what is ne and what is not. When i was a main floor obstruction from time to time it was easier for her to take inventory. Now she has given up.

Congrats.

You lost a hobbie room and gained an addition to the family.

Quick, go claim the whole basement

I was able to claim 1 1/2 rooms and a garage.

We don't have a basement. Grrrrrrrrr

the garage is all mine

when we went hosue shopping i told the realtor: if it has less then a two stall dont bother

im thinking of using the two boxes of laminate i have left to do (at least a partial) laminate floor in my new hoby room,

that should make it easyer to find dropped parts

im so exited and scared to death at the same time ;)

congrats on the future addition to the family and welcome to the basement.

great place to getaway and relax so make sure to fix it up to your liking. ;)

So.... is this one going to be an all-new tool or a re-issue?

this will be a completely new tooling ;)

the house doesnt have a finished basement so i get to pick eveything from floorcovering to drywall

(get to install it all myself too im afraid)

when we moved in we did the entire upstairs, paint flooring and what not so all the babys room needs is for me to evacuate it

Congrats on the new edition to the family.

Giving up your room and having to move to the basement, is only a minor give up compared to the major giveups that a new baby is going to bring.

A new baby is a wonderfull addition to a family, but it changes your life as you know it. And it is a great change. I know, as I have 6 kids and 4 grandkids, and it makes for a great life.

 Jeff :P

it is definatly big enough

easy acces from the bedroom

but to no avail

Kewl beans man, your gonna have a KID, thats awesome, congrats, I dont have kids, so it's kewl when other people have'em, well congrats man

it is a rush man

we have been trying for a while

(though i think i might have been trying a little harder then she has  )

i dont think it has fully settled in

on the other hand, we were over at the doctor yesterday and with this little audiothingamabobber i could hear his heartbeat

it was awesome

Congratuations .. this is the biggest rush you will ever have when born .. even better than scoring a most-wanted on e-bay for pocket change!! :P

Posted
congrats. remember its not to early to start stocking up models for the next generation modeler. HA HA

great idea

i should run that by the wife

but on the other hand, i have a hard time stacking (im Dutch you know ;) )

Congrats Eelco....

Look at the best side of it all....you get to build the hobby room that EXACT way you want it...

and if your lucky, larger than you have now

NOTHING in the world compares to holding the first child for the first time. Congratualtions! Moving to the basement...now you can have have a "man cave" as that is where my build area is. I love it down there. Back to the baby....hearing that little heartbeat is the greatest.

Best of everything to you, the wife and your little one Eelco.
