That's about the way the real ones fit together. :o:o

Neat kit - at least it would be if the parts fit. Is that a new release? I hadn't heard about that one. I've always been a fan of British sports cars, and have driven or ridden in many of that car's contemporaries, though never a Spitfire/GT6.

Yeah, it's a release of a 40yr old Pyro kit. Pyros were slightly above Palmer, but were still pretty weak compared to the AMT, MPC, etc of the time.

This kit as almost as old as me, an just as ricketty. It comes with separate sides, doors, roof panels, much like the original 56 Chrysler New Yorker by Revell, that was my FIRST model. It's a multi peice model that builds like a mult-peice model! those ol farts among us, who built the first MP bodied kits have fond memories of these! Just REALLY glad we DON'T have ta build 'em anymore.(That is UNLESS ya WANT to!) Turns out that when Revell re-issued that New Yorker kit, I went an got one, an to my surprise, I STILL couldn't build it nicely! Oh well, it's nice to know SOME things don't change! :lol:;)

I think Lownslow should have added that he also posted this on the Spotlight board where David Burket said it was indeed a defective kit and told him to contact him and he'd help him out with it. Knowing David, he'd replace it with a good one.

Did you contact him Lownslow ?

yup i contacted him, i hope so that would be great

I have no doubt this post will spark a big debate and that there will be a bunch of haters but here goes;

This is kind a like at our local 1/4 dirt track last summer, the winged Sprint Cars were there for a Friday night show. Danny "The Dude" Lasoski was the feature driver for the event. The track was prepped as it would have been for our normal Saturday night show. I was working track exit to warn those walking by when a car was leaving the track. All the drivers and crews were allowed to stand behind me and watch what was going on with the track. Every time that Danny would come off the track he'd come up and stand next to me and rant about the track condition. Granted the track was not in the condition needed for winged sprint cars but his constant complaining was out of line as well. Finally, after about the forth time I ask, 'Danny, are you a race car driver?' His reply was "Yes!", to which I stated 'the track crew did their best, Adapt.'

Sometimes it's no different with us, do we just complain about the kits we buy that aren't up to the standard we think they should be or are we model builders? Sometimes we just need to adapt.

No matter how good quality control may be some defects always seem to make it through. When I've come across something this bad I either return it or find a work around. Personally, to have already contacted the MFG and be working on getting the problem resolved then to post something like this is is a poor choice and nothing more then Grandstanding. It's like waving a flag and shouting Look at me I bought a defective kit. If we all did this each and every time we bought a poorly cast part or found a part missing we'd never get anything built.

If I stepped on any toes please accept my apologies, but every now and then someone has to be the voice of reason.

Peace

any particular reason why the hood is separated from the front fenders, other than massive rust? 1:1 GT6's and Spits (as well as Heralds) had tilt-up front ends that opened forwards and thus exposed the engine, not a central hood that opened "normally" towards the back. spectacular rust out portrayal, anyway.

This is really amusing. I had completely forgotten about this fact. I'm glad to see Lownslow making his lemonade from this kit and when I saw the hood bent up, it just looked right. But now that I realize how the front actually opened up I can't believe I didn't notice it. Not that it really makes any difference; it is a model and he could always claim that the American owner had the thing altered to open up this way.

Lownslow, keep up the top-notch destruction.
