I ran across this on Autoblog.............very interesting! I got a 94% as I missed the question on school zones.

I have had for a loooong time some real pet peeves when it comes to driving, but that's not what this thread's about.

Just take the test for fun! :)

Click here to see how good (or bad) you are!

89% B+ above average driver.

I guess you are NOT supposed to flip big trucks the bird. :)

Actually I knew the right answer, it was just more fun to flip the bird.

Doh I forgot my hand signals.

I too, have pet peeves about driving too. Sure are a lot of moron drivers out there. How did they pass their driving test even. I wonder.

I'm a great driver but got a B on this "test". I did much better than that every time I've taken a written driving test for a real license.

I've had one minor speeding ticket in 33 years (and of course the cop couldn't wait to get home to tell his wife that he gave Robert Downie, Jr. a ticket  ). The only insurance claims were from being rear ended at a stoplight and for hail damage.

Every school zone I've ever seen is marked 25 MPH. Considering the number of officers enforcing this limit locally, I know what I'm talking about.

Yes, we can all easily predict down to the exact foot how many feet to drive behind an fire truck...our cars give off an alarm, or we get out with a tape measure, right?

What's the difference if I don't know the exact footage to park from a stop sign? This isn't a "driving" test, it's a parking test. I'm sure everyone who parks near a stop sign has, and uses, a tape measure to make sure they aren't parking illegally

What's the difference if I don't know the exact percentage of accidents involving alcohol? I don't drink and drive, and I drive defensively against people who can't drive for whatever reason. I see more incidents of idiots weaving and driving erratically while on the phone or texting these days vs. driving drunk.

Some of the questions are "questionable" to say the least, at least in some states. It's a lot like Facebook tests...not exactly a barometer of anything really meaningful ;)

How does knowing what percent of accidents involve alcohol have any bearing on your driving ability? That's about as relevant as asking what percent of Chinese are left-handed. And as far as parking a certain number of feet away from a stop sign: instead of assuming every driver carries a tape measure with him and carefully measures the distance from parked car to stop sign, how about just paint the curb yellow in the "no parking" area? What, that makes too much sense?

BTW... school speed limits here are 20 mph. I did get that one right!

This reminds me of an interesting thing I read somewhere.

If 4 cars all come to a 4-way stop intersection at the exact same time which driver continues on his way first?

My Dad and I find our selves "teaching" other drivers. What I mean is when we drive into town, we watch other people drive and we comment to our selves.

One thing annoys us and another one makes us laugh.

We find it annoying when there is clearly a turn-in lane for drivers to politely merge into traffic with. Yet, some people just don't see that and wait for what seems like hours for traffic to clear. Or, there are those that don't wait and just zoom across all lanes to get to the far side.

What makes us laugh, is people in parking lot's. Why is it, that people are so locked in their heads about reversing out of a parking space when they can clearly pull forward when the spot in front of theme is empty? We always park in a way that we can drive straight out as we find it much easier than trying to reverse. Several accidents have accord from reversing out of a parking spot in the parking lot's. Even my Insight got a nice little square dent from a truck who couldn't see me as he backed out.

Drivers should take tests more frequently to keep up to date with their skills, knowledge, and over all good manners.

I think it's another reason why local stores are going out of business. People are fed up with road rage and would rather stay home shopping on-line than having some jerk cut them off.

Sorry for my rambling, I'll go take that test......................

Okay, well, according to the test I'm a bad driver, I failed at 44%! But, that's not real life situations, and some of the questions were confusing especially about the red/green cars. I've never had an accident in my life, I've had very few tickets, and I try my best to be a polite driver. I don't believe much in those tests, I believe more in real life situations. That's just me.

I failed. 56%

In KS and MO school zones are 25mph.

In MO You must be 100 ft from a stop sign.

If I'm driving and my low beams stop working I'm not pulling off and turning my flashers on.

I didn't know the statistics of alcohol related accidents.

I was taught (apearently wrong) that the car to the left at a 4 way stop has the right away.

We didn't have ABS when I learned how to drive. Didn't need it then and don't need it now. I feel it gives drivers a false senses of security.

And I was taught that the car to the right has the right of way. But if there are 4 cars at the intersection, every one of them is to the right of somebody! So who goes first?

To makes things even more confusing, I read somewhere that legally, in that kind of situation there is no "right of way."

So what do we do now???

My BIGGEST pet peeve on the road are Left Lane Bandits!!

Folks who think because it's a lane they have the right to hold everyone else up! Pennsylvania finally passed a law a few years ago making this illegal!

Whoever can gun it and smoke 'em at the intersection!

I din't even take it yet a can see some problems.Like a HUNNERT feet from a stop sign? THAT'S plain stupid! In Mich. it's 10 feet! an like Harry said, the guy onna Right get's the "Right of way"! I'd never give a Semi driver the bird, he might try to catch me an cause an accident! An Bill's right about the 4 way, whoever can clear the intersection the quickest is da winna!!!! I'm gonna hafta check it out, thanks for some answers!

It's easy. The person with the biggest (fill in the blank) goes first.

The person with the loaded gun in the back window of the truck they're driving!

Then it's the Teenager either talking or texting on a cellphone. (Like they would have actually stopped for the stop sign in the first place). ;)

In all seriousness, when it turns into a standoff, I usually give it a couple of seconds, cautiously start out, and if no one else jumps I'm outta there!

what i do is the following :

1 rev the engine to about 3700 RPM where the turbo puts out 16 PSI

2 shift into 1st gear

3 drop the cutch

4 smoke the tires

5 once the tires stop smoking i take of

most people will wait for the "ahum" smoke to clear

There are 3 rules for successfully navigating your way through Boston:

1) NEVER use your turn signals; (You're giving away your intentions).

2) NEVER make eye contact with the other drivers; (You may give away your intentions).

3) If there is room, it's a lane!!

LOL! Just today I was pulling out of my aunt's driveway. I forgot to go all the way back before turning in and I hit there mail-box. Fortunetly, I was doing maybe 0.5 MPH so no damage whatsoever. So, I guess I'm not perfect, but I like to think I'm better than the guy next to me at the light!

Imagine if I had reversed quickly!

I sure don't agree pulling over and sitting with my flashers on because my low beams went out. I would drive with just my flashers on to get some place safe. I wish they would pass a law here about driving in the left lane. I hate slow pokes that drive in the passing lane. I don't know about drinking laws either as I don't drink and drive. Anti-lock brakes are junk on a truck as I slide down my driveway when there is snow and ice on it. That tells you which ones I got wrong.

In my experience, what usually happens when 3 or 4 cars hit the intersection at more or less the same time, everyone sits there for a second or two... then everyone sees that nobody else is going, so they all decide at the same time to be the first one to go!
