Aaronw Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 I've seen some of you post screen captures when explaining things like how to post photos. Since it seems like every month someone is asking about making decals, I thought I'd post a how to make simple decals with stuff most everybody has, in tips & tricks. I can not figure out how to capture the screen as a pic so I could insert it into a post (I assume it would become a jpeg so I could host it at photobucket). I know it is probably a simple process but I can't figure it out, any help would be appreciated. Thanks
Harry P. Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 It depends on what platform you are... Mac OS 9 or older? Mac OSX or newer? Windows XP? Windows Vista Home? Windows Vista Premium? It works differently on each system.
Aaronw Posted September 2, 2009 Author Posted September 2, 2009 99% sure I've got Windows XP Cal you just hurt my brain, I may appear computer literate, but thats just a front.
roadhawg Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 (edited) When you got whatever it is you wanna screenshot, press that key at the top right on your keyboard that says "print screen" or PrtSc" or something like that. Then....open up MS Paint. Go up and click the "edit" tab, then click "paste"....the image that was on your screen will now show up there. Then you can click "file" then "save as" and save it....I usually save it as a Jpeg. I hope this makes sense. Edited September 2, 2009 by roadhawg
Harry P. Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 There's a key near the upper right, should say something like "PRT SCR" or maybe even "print screen". Hit that key, then open up a new document in whatever image editing program you have, and paste the image into the program, then save it as a jpeg onto your desktop or into a folder or wherever you want to save it to. You could also hit the "PRT SCR" key, then open up MS Word. The image will be there in the Word doc. Intuitive? No way, it's Windows! If you want intuitive and user friendly, you should be on a Mac...
Rick Schmidt Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 guys I know I'm not the original poster but I've been schooled I had always wondered how yall did this. figured it was some fancy progra. now I know how to do it thanks .... tho now I know I'll never need it again lol
E St. Kruiser50 Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 (edited) Sounds like we have pretty much the same system. I just use my mouse - point at the pic, right click - then left click on save image as... title it, and click on "Save". Anything that comes up on my screen I can save, and use later. It goes into my pic account and I can move it to my image hosting account - Photobucket - then I can send it anywhere I want, or use it for whatever I want - SIMPLE . Here's a sample I did for ya - took about 45 seconds. Edited September 2, 2009 by Treehugger Dave

Aaronw Posted September 2, 2009 Author Posted September 2, 2009 Thanks, I had tried the print screen key before but it never seemed to do anything. I didn't know I had to paste into another program.
