The original kit had a picture of a Lemonwood Yellow Impala SS on the box art. That particular color was very popular in the area I was living in starting with the '64 models. I had a friend that got one of the very first Chevelle SS's about a week before their general release. His car was the first Chevelle that the dealership had received and had the 220 hp 283 cu and 4 speed. That was the top engine option until the summer of '64 when Chevrolet started to offer a couple of 327 engines.
Snake45 Posted October 28, 2019 Posted October 28, 2019 I think y'all can thank me for bringing this one back, too. In the last year I've spent some substantial coin on ePay buying two or three original AMT '66 promos, one "radio car," a semi-rare (soon to be reissued) modified stocker, and a very restorable original AMT full kit in original AMT box full of useful '65 and '66 original parts for restoring the others. I hope to have at least one of the promos restored by the end of the year.
'70 Grande Posted October 28, 2019 Posted October 28, 2019 Remember... remember... remember... gotta send my "Holy Grail" kit list to Snake so he can buy them all up and then get that reissue-fountain to start pouring out those holy-grail kits that I long to buy!!!!

I picked up an original AMT '66 Impala SS kit about 30 years ago thinking that it would never be reissued since that was not what the model companies were doing at the time. I paid a kings ransom for it at the time and then just never got around to building it. I still have it and enough Revell issues to last me the rest of my life. Now if you would be so kind as to find a '56 Bel Air tudoor post car I would be in your debt. I know that Revell offers the 210 tudoor post, but I need the Bel Air trim.

I think all issues of the old Revell '56 Chev 2DS included separate chrome trim pieces for all three trim levels--150, 210, and Bel Air. The problem is finding a buildable one, as many of the later reissues have bodies so warped they can't be built. But it might be possible to pick up one of these just for the trim, and install it on a modern Revell '56 Del Ray 2DS body. I wouldn't want to do it, but you might want to.

Thought I could help you with the 56 chevy but the ones I have are hardtops.

Thanks for the idea but the trim I have from the early Revell '56 Chevrolet trim is just as warped as the bodies and the lengths are wrong. 5 hours ago, ewetwo said: Thought I could help you with the 56 chevy but the ones I have are hardtops. Thankyou also for the thought. I may sound picky, and yes I am, but the body proportions are more like the early tri-fives that Snake mentioned than the newer '565 Chevy 210.
