dublin boy Posted November 8, 2009 Posted November 8, 2009 Wow, things have come on alot in 20something years! Found about half my old cars mostly in bits, almost like a scrapyard in a box... I can take pics when i get a digital camera, maybe you guys can suggest how to rebuild them. without pics I can only make list of what they are, all old. Thaks, Shay.
JamesW Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 (edited) Well, one thing you could do is pack them up and send them to me j/k. As far as rebuilding them, it all depends on the condition, you can always strip them down and start over with them. Edited November 9, 2009 by grimreaper

Thanks for the response. 55 & 58 Chevy, Model A & B Fords, 37 Chevy and two Jo-hans pulled from the wreckage. The salvage is ongoing. Best regards, Shay.
Guest arni Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 Welcome from another Irishman,I am in the north.LOL Show some pics when you can and we will help you out.
Lyn Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 how sad what happened to them that they are damaged? A lot of the models my dad bought built that have been in storage have had the glue break down and have fallen apart. I have the feeling that isn't what happened to yours.. One of my bestest friends in the whole world lives in Cork and I sent her son a model 2 months ago Thought I'd share that LOL

Mostly built with Super Glue (CA) still stuck! All built when I was a kid. Sorry for the late responce, Kind regards, Shay.
Corvette.Jeff Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 One thing you can do to unglue the superglue is freezing the parts, it might take a day or two, but it usually works for me. I see your from Ireland, Im almost all irish
my80malibu Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 Welcome aboard Shay, If you have used tube glue you can use solvent[aka debonder] to help dissolve the glue joints. If you decide to completely strip them down and start over, I generally use a product called Castrol CRC. known on this board as the purple pond. It removes paint, chrome plating, and glue.
Foxer Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 I would tend to let them be as tribute to your younger building days. I'd love so much to have some of the stuff I build 50 years ago! I guess it depends on actual damage needing repair. If you can get some photos up so we can see, there are many here that have revived old, built kits from the primitives ages that can help. Now,in the meantime, welcome to the forum back to the hobby and go get a NEW kit to start cutting up!!
jbwelda Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 >Castrol CRC i am almost positive it is called Castrol Super Clean, or "CSC" for short.

Thanks, Mike, The one's that were finished 20 plus years ago will just get fixed up as much as possible, got glue out yesterday it was scary. The best we have this side of the pond is brake fluid for stripping paint, I will be using it on models I don't like. Best regards, Shay.
