juergen Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 hi guys ! i don´t know but i believe that i forget to post this workbench - thread of the built the 57 chevy. for the model - show vienna i have to built for the owner of this car the right model: for the model i used this kit: hmmm - not so good this kit - i built another time the amt 57 chevy and that kit looks much better here i take the crome parts into remover to brushed it with allclad: greets juergen
juergen Posted November 18, 2009 Author Posted November 18, 2009 now the parts are brushed with allclad: the interieur are very simple on this kit so i must do any things with plastic sheets: the next disaster is the steering wheel on the left side you see. greets juergen
george 53 Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 Yeah Juergen, The AMT OLD version of this kit is probably the BEST of the bunch. The Boyd Coddington is the latest version of this kit. Let me know if you want one, Maybe I can find it over here if you can't get it over there. You gonna start another one,or you just showin us a previous build? I got the pics from the Vienna show you sent me, they were GREAT! Is THIS car in the pics? Anyway, I still wanna see the lil 41 truck Daddy-O, So lets get that bad boy on the road!!!
Modellpularn Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 Juergen, that Revell/old Monogram kit is NO good! Get rid of it!!! Build a junkyard car out of it....hehe. Try and find an old AMT kit like George says, as it's the best one when it comes to body proportions. Tim Boyd did a kit comparison in an old issue of Scale Auto, and found that the AMT kit was the best! Even though it has the molded in exhaust system.
juergen Posted November 18, 2009 Author Posted November 18, 2009 hi guys ! your are right with the quality of the kit. for this time i can´t get the right amt and so i have to do this one. @george53: yes this is the 57 chevy in pics;-) the body is painted and waits for drying: greets juergen
george 53 Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 Geeze Juergen, you ALWAYS paint so nicely! I can even see the reflectons of the paver bricks in the paint! The guys'll REALLY be impressed when they see it all finished! You ever hear the old saying,"Makein a silk purse from a sow's ear"? Well THAT'S what you've done with that kit!!!!
Dr. Cranky Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 OH, nice, I like it . . . you are making good progress.
Harry P. Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 Why did you strip the chrome plating off the parts that are supposed to be chrome plated on the real car (bumpers, wheel covers, etc.) and re-do the chrome with Alclad?
Janne Herajärvi Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 Why did you strip the chrome plating off the parts that are supposed to be chrome plated on the real car (bumpers, wheel covers, etc.) and re-do the chrome with Alclad? Maybe there was some mold lines in bumbers so he wanted to sand them away for better look Also that gives bit more realism for model when chrome parts arent so bright as they usually are. The look little bit toyish straight from box. Great paint job BTW
juergen Posted November 18, 2009 Author Posted November 18, 2009 hi guys !!! the next step is done with the interieur. i think it´s possible to do also good work with this very bad kit - not easy but i hope i can??? @harrypri: janne herajärvi has told why i strip the chrome on all of my builts. i don´t like this unreal bright chrom from this. @george53: george my friend - a good zitat*gggggggggg* greets juergen
Raul_Perez Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 GREAT WORK, as usual, Juergen!! I think I'll wait until Revell retools a '57 Chevy to match the quality of their recent '56 Chevy kits. (Even if it never happens...). Later,
george 53 Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 Geeze Juergen, That interior is lookin GREAT! I LOVE the way you made the door/window handles, they look GREAT too! Couldn't see how nice it came out from the pics, so these pictures are GREAT! Wat the heck, ALL your builds look GREAT!!!!!
