I got this goofy idea about doing an Isreali Defense Force Jeep M38A1 "movie prop" (it's a long story for later). Anyway, I started this little project earlier this year. I got in a hurry about painting and am having to start over in a bunch of places, but that's okay. The white structures you see are the seat supports/gas tank from the MPC WWII Jeep/Hogan's Heroes Jeep.

A friend gave me the top and support bars from the old MPC "Korean War Staff Car" kit so I can do a top-up version. The military-siped tires and narrowed wheels are from Hendrix Manufacturing and are resin pieces.

I wanted to use a solid tailgate panel like the Jeeps I've seen in photos, and like the WWII Jeep includes. But the WWII Jeep panel is too wide, so I had to build a new one (the white panel in the center). I also built that radio antenna mount on the left corner based on some photos I have.

It's coming along and should be unique, I think. It'll be colorful.

This is the first Jeep model I've built in about 30 years. I'm having a lot of fun with it.

What color are you planning on the basecoat? From personal experience testors S.A.C. bomber tan is a very good base.

The model looks very good so far keep us posted.

Terry, your idea isn't goofy, it's very creative! I like to see models of unusual subjects. Looks like this one will turn out great!

thats a great subject

ive been a longtime admirer of the IDF

a buddy of mine was telling me how on a trip to the Holy Land he saw a guy wearing a shirt that had the IDF logo on the front and on the back it said "america we got your back"

in my opinion the IDF earned its stripes during the six day war and it also proved that the events recorded for us in 2nd kings 6:15-17 still occur today

at any rate, will you be posting some of the IDFs catchkey phrases on the jeep ?

like "uzzi does it"

In response to question, this is an MPC "Daisy's Jeep" CJ-5. Wheels and tires are Hendrix resin. There will be some decals, but no slogans (I can't read Hebrew, so have no idea what the decal sheet says). So I'll play it safe and just do some unit numbers, like the photos I found.

Color is a Floquil railroad color called "Foundation." I like using Floquil because they're lacquer based so they aren't quite so affected by the weathering process.
