Space Cowboy Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 (edited) Well it's been a while so this time i have a build that is my idea on how a 2012 Cougar would look like. I am starting with a Monogram 70 Mustang that looks like a Javelin. Will have more for you to see soon. Edited December 18, 2009 by Space Cowboy
Fletch Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 This should be an interesting conversion. I'll be watching along as you build.
charlie8575 Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 Hmmm....take a nice, good-looking car with room, ride and power and turn it into a cramped, little front-driver with no style or ride. Although, knowing you, Bruce, this will have style! And good style at that. Charlie Larkin
Space Cowboy Posted December 7, 2009 Author Posted December 7, 2009 Sorry i forgot to mention that it is like the Mustang and it's rear wheel drive. Got it out of the brake fluid and it cleaned up really well. Did lot's of body work and shaping. Hey lot's more to do and a lot more shaping so i will have more soon.
charlie8575 Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 It works..... The automobile companies need to hire you to do their designs, Bruce. Charlie Larkin
CustomFreak Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 looks very nice, good idea to convert a classical car into future Frank
Space Cowboy Posted December 8, 2009 Author Posted December 8, 2009 Got a lot done so have a look. Hope to have more done soon.
charlie8575 Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 I like it! I love it! I want more of it! Been listening to C&W a little lately, sorry. Seriously, I really do like the way that looks, Bruce. Charlie Larkin
george 53 Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 WoW,Bruce, I must say I had my doubts when I first saw this rascal, but you've brought it along beautifully! It ACTUALLY LOOKS like a Cougar! GREAT conversion! Too bad the guys at Ford aren't as style concious as YOU! It's lookin GOOD so far Daddy-O, Keep it up!
Chuck Most Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 A shame the world will end in 2012, and we'll never get to see the real deal!
george 53 Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 UUUUUGH, Chuck, Is that YOU, or Jerry Cantrell???? Oh, and WHO IS Jerry cantrell??????
Chuck Most Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 UUUUUGH, Chuck, Is that YOU, or Jerry Cantrell???? Oh, and WHO IS Jerry cantrell?????? I'll tell you who it ISN'T... IT ISN'T JERRY CANTRELL!!!! And Jerry Cantrell is the guitarist of the recently rejuvenated Seattle grunge/metal band Alice In Chains!
rustybill1960 Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 don't know who the guy in the photo is . . . . . but, the cougar is shaping up real nice, really looking forward to the finish thanks for sharing Man
Space Cowboy Posted December 11, 2009 Author Posted December 11, 2009 Got the fender flares on and put headlights open. Will have more soon.
charlie8575 Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 I'm serious, Bruce, I'm ready to print this out and send it to Ford when you're done! They MUST build this, Mercury needs this car in its lineup. Charlie Larkin
sfhess Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 A shame the world will end in 2012, and we'll never get to see the real deal! Didn't you hear? The Aztecs decided that working with stone was a big hassle so they converted to paper for the 2013-up calendars........
sak Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 Remember to install a B pillar, as no American car company has the balls to produce a true hardtop. But it is only a concept, and looking good so far.
charlie8575 Posted December 12, 2009 Posted December 12, 2009 Although your point is well-taken, that C-pillar is heavy enough that it would probably be more than enough. Charlie Larkin
Space Cowboy Posted December 12, 2009 Author Posted December 12, 2009 Got the body and interior primered. More coming soon.
Space Cowboy Posted December 16, 2009 Author Posted December 16, 2009 Got the body painted it's first coat of paint on. The color is Krylon Nickle and the interior is Testors Graphite Dust. More coming soon.
Railfreak78 Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 Looking sharp man! I love concept cars and this is fantastic!
Chuck Most Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 The retro-Coug is coming along nicely. I agree with sending some photos of the finished model to Ford... I think your design has merit! Didn't you hear? The Aztecs decided that working with stone was a big hassle so they converted to paper for the 2013-up calendars........ Oh, of course!
Space Cowboy Posted December 17, 2009 Author Posted December 17, 2009 Got the last coat of paint on now it's on to polishing.. Hope to have it done soon.
